Disappointing, I thought to myself as I quietly sighed. Before either of us could comment on it though his mom called us into the kitchen. She was holding her car keys and sternly looking at Vance. "Be a nice boy to your friends, okay?" She told him, earning a soft nod from Vance.

She then turned to me. A sweet, comforting grin played on her lips. It was a smile I couldn't help but smile back at. "Please, make yourself at home here, okay, kiddo?" She told me. My heart sort of hurt at that. At the sweet woman who was clearly over working herself to provide for her, her son, and her home. At the fact she was such a sweet mother to Vance.

I nodded my head with a grin, "alright, ma'am." The woman grinned once again and turned away, leaving the Vance and I alone. I held onto his hand for some reason, and we went back to his room.

We sat on his bedroom floor and he pulled a box of stolen comics from under his bed. Some of them were still in the plastic wrapping, others still had the stickers with how expensive they were. Though, I use the word expensive loosely. For me, 20¢ wasn't much.

Vance grabbed a spider man comic and opened it. We read through it, sitting so close our shoulders and thighs were touching. I honestly wasn't paying much attention to the comic book, more on Vance. I just stared at his face, watching as his blue eyes moved between words.

"Are you even paying attention to the bo-," I cut his sentence with a 1 second decision. I kissed him, my hand resting softly on his cheek as I felt it warm up. When I backed off Vance was just frozen in place, his face a surprised expression. His face a pink and for a second he didn't really move much. "Uhm," he blinked back into reality, "thanks."

I huffed, was that all he could say? "Uhm..." I looked away from him, not knowing what to do after that.

Conveniently for me a knock rang out from the front door.
