Most of my Sunday mornings were either going to church or having baseball practice, but this Sunday morning I practically ran to Finney's house. After me and Amy's "talk" last night I realised she was onto something. Vance felt like...more than a friend in a way. But I didn't think I was gay.
But I figured Finney could help. He had a strong gaydar, plus he was gay himself. I just really needed helping with figuring myself out. As I was running down the street it really dawned on me. I was confused about...myself? It was really an odd feeling. Life had always been somewhat confusing, and I always wasn't sure about one part about myself. But my sexuality was something I was always sure of, or at least I thought so.
As I ran up to the porch I wasted no time not spamming the doorbell. I only stopped when I heard the locks clicking. I was met with a tired Gwen and Finney staring at me. "What is it, Bruce?" Finney asked in a polite tone as he yawned.
"Can I talk to you?" I nervously asked.
Finney slowly nodded his head, a confused expression on his tired face. Gwen wandered back to the living room, lying down on the couch as I stepped into their house. Finney took me to his room quietly, gesturing to the door where his dad presumably slept. "So..what's up?" He asked, a small yawn escaping his body.
"How'd you know you were gay?" I asked flatly. I wanted to get my point across, and I definitely did.
Finney's eyes widened and I could see he wasn't sure what to say for a moment. My heart raced as he looked away from me with the same look. "I never really liked girls that way, I guess. Why?" He asked me, concern on his face.
I let out a deep sigh, his words not helping me figure myself out. "Cause I think I have feelings for a guy," I hesitantly spat out.
"Oh," Finney nodded his head, then my word really clicked in his head, "oh! Who?"
I felt my face get warm, but my stomach also dropped. "I can't tell you. You'd hate me. Everyone would." Unfortunately it didn't take a rocket scientist to figure out who it was, and even worse Vance happened to text me right then as well. Finney had a look of shock and horror. "Don't be mad."
"I'm..I...I don't know what to say, Bruce," He mumbled, seeming in a dazed state now. I could tell he wasn't happy about my unfortunate choice of crushes. "And, I'm not mad, I'm just super shocked," he said, "and I'm sure Billy would be upset, but Robin would be glad I think."
I smiled slightly, but I still had a bad gut feeling. We sat in dead silence for a bit. It was clear that this new revelation set an awkward atmosphere between us. "Why Vance? What happened between you two?" He asked me, worry in his dark brown eyes.
"Uhmm..well we really got along when we went bowling, and..." I started to explain how since they had left us at bowling we had started to actually get along really well. I told Finney what I admired about Vance: his blond hair, his ocean eyes, his surprisingly pleasant personality.
Finney's face just stayed concerned. I could tell he didn't like the fact I liked Vance, but really, what could either of us do about it? I couldn't help the fact I liked Vance, and he couldn't change anything.
Short chapterrrr sorry
