CHAPTER 3

"Maa, listen to me . . I won't be available on those days."

"Raghav listen. It's happening in Hyderabad. Even if you have an emergency, you will be able to go and attend it. He is your schoolmate after all and also my best friend's only son. What will Sanjay think if you won't be there for his wedding?"

"Okay fine. . but only for 4 days."

"Ha, since your papa is out of the country, I will arrive only on the last day. That is on the day of wedding. By that time you scan the area and find a bride for yourself."

"Maa . .please."

Before he could say something, she already escaped the scene and had cut the call.

Raghav made the necessary arrangements to take off for 4 days. He hated doing it especially since, he was dealing with a crucial case right now. But nonetheless he decide to keep the track of the case during those days.

Raghav and his team was having a discussion with the forensic expert. After the meeting they decided to go and meet Riya's parents and the arrangements were already made.

"So what's your findings ma'am?" Raghav asked the middle aged forensic expert Dr. Anjali Gupta.

"As in the other cases before Riya, she had also undergone torture. For hours it seems. There are signs of struggle on her arms. But we couldn't find any external DNA from her body. The killer must have taken additional precautions so that, not even the dead skin cells were found on the body."

"Ma'am you mean to say that it is an exact repetition of the previous cases?"

"Yes Mr. Rao. Same as the other two cases. There has been no sexual assault involved but their genital had suffered heavy burning; must be with something like a hot iron rod! All this has happened when they were alive. . .just hours before the estimated time of their death. As you see, the only difference here is in the case of Mrs. Awasthi. She suffered a miscarriage as a result of this torture, soon after which she died." she concluded.

Raghav was stunned even though he knew something like this was coming; so was Vishwa and Raghuveer.

 The exact same torture was undergone previously by Rohit and Mrs. Awasthi. as well as her unborn child. The pain must have been beyond imaginable for them but strangely there has been no sexual abuse . . .

"I have mailed other details to you. You may please go through the same and contact me if necessary."

"Thank you so much ma'am."

She nodded and left the room along with her assistant. 

Raghav became quiet and was indulged in deep thoughts for a while for a while before he stood up

"Now, it's time to meet Mr and Mrs. Mehta, Riya's parents. Raghuveer what about the search on the cremation site?"

"We got the permission for the search. It will be arranged by tomorrow morning sir."

"Make it early in the morning, before the public starts noticing anything. We don't need a havoc there! Raghuveer just make sure the search will be over between 4 to 6 am.  I won't be here for 4 days starting from tomorrow but you will send all the details and reports to me.  Without any delay."

Raghuveer nodded and left the room.

"Vishwa, you  come with me to meet Riya's parents."

"Yes sir."

 Raghav decided to go and meet Riya's parents  without wasting much time, just as he planned earlier.
