One month after the helicopter crash, Georgie had moved into what had been Jake's house, and the Daggers had completed another mission, this time a bombing raid on a munitions factory. Jake was taking Georgie out for dinner, to the same place they'd gone just after she'd arrived.
Georgie had put on her favourite pink dress and shoes and perfected her make-up, and they were ready to leave.
"Hey, gorgeous," Jake greeted her where he'd been waiting by his truck, pressing a quick kiss to her lips. "Are you ready?"
She nodded, and he opened the passenger door for her, allowing her to climb in.
"This place is even more beautiful than I remembered," Georgie noted of the restaurant, looking around at the strings of lights on the ceiling and the flowers arranged on each table.
Their waiter led them to a table in the far corner of the establishment, hidden behind an extended wall where they could hardly be seen from the other tables.
"Do you remember our first date?" Jake asked as they looked at the menus. "We went to that Chinese place down the street, and you told me you didn't know if you wanted to risk dating a pilot."
"And you replied that you weren't just any pilot, you were top of your class at Top Gun," Georgie smiled. "As if I didn't know."
"Excuse me, are you ready to order?"

"What's on your mind?" Georgie asked Jake. "Ever since we got here you've been restless."
"There's something I wanted to say to you."
Georgie nodded encouragingly.
"When we first met, my number one ambition was to graduate top of my Top Gun class and have my name on that wall. And I did that. I've always wanted to be the best, I still do, but now I want something else, too."
He leaned forward slightly in his seat.
"What I want, more than anything, is to be with you for the rest of my life; whether that's until I'm eighty, or until I die next week, I don't care. I love you, Georgiana Haines. Will you marry me?"
He pulled a black box out of his pocket, opened it, and placed it on the table in front of her to reveal a beautiful diamond ring.
"Yes," she replied, emphatically, and he visibly relaxed.
"Give me your hand," he said, and she obliged, and he slid the ring onto her finger. "Are you crying?"
"Happy tears, I promise."
"Oh, Georgie." He leaned across the table to kiss her.
"I love you," she told him. "Now, what do you say we cause some absolute chaos?" she asked, holding up her phone.
He smirked. "Do it. I didn't tell anyone I was planning this."
Grinning, Georgie opened her phone and went into the Jonas brothers group chat. It only took her a moment to decide what to type.
Georgie: hey guys guess what
Lainey: what
Georgie: no u have to guess
Lainey: well idfk
Lainey: did hangman finally get rid of the bloody truck
Lainey: please let that be it
Nat: georgie just tell us im busy
Satisfied that she'd created enough suspense, she took a picture of her hand wearing her ring, sent it, and then muted the group chat and put her phone away in her bag.
"They're gonna go nuts," she smirked.
"Remember when you first told them we were going out?"
"Lainey asked if I needed to see a doctor," Georgie laughed.
"I can't believe we've come this far and she still hasn't removed any of my limbs. She must really like me."
"She likes you, secretly. She'd never admit it, though."
"Secretly I like her too," Jake smiled. "Don't tell her I said that."
"I won't," Georgie promised.
