SANDRA noticed that the rest of the building didn't seem to be alerted about the events in sub level three as she stayed close behind Teresa on the main level with Thomas and Newt on either side of her.
"Keeping moving," Thomas ordered Teresa, grabbing her arm as they turned, walking toward an elevator.
When they got to the elevator, Sandra pressed the button before quickly stepping back and glancing over her shoulder at the sound of radio chatter. A guard with a gun faced her while walking and she quickly looked forward again, pressing the button repeatedly before stepping back.
"Why the fuck is it—"
The doors to the elevator cut her off and she walked in with Teresa and Thomas behind her and Newt being the last one in. The three of them stood behind Teresa, shoulder to shoulder and Thomas pressed the button.
Just as the doors started to slide together, an arm stuck its way in and Sandra gripped her gun tighter at the sight of Janson pushing the doors apart. It took everything in her to not pull out her handgun and put a bullet into the back of his head when he turned his back in front of Thomas.
Janson pressed a button and the elevator doors closed when Sandra, Thomas, and Newt slowly looked at each other, the three of them growing tense with anger.
"You're working late," Janson said to Teresa who was staring at the doors as the elevator started moving.
Teresa softly chuckled and Sandra grew annoyed at how odd she was acting.
"See, that's what I like about you, Teresa," Jason drawled. "No matter how bleak things get, you just...Well, you never give up. Times like this, you need a friend that you can count on."
Under the mask, Sandra furrowed her brows, trying to figure out if Janson was being nice or a fucking weirdo.
"I'll bear that in mind," Teresa said, her body stiffening.
Janson nodded. "There is one thing you should know. One friend to another." He slowly looked at her. "Thomas is here."
Oh, for fuck sake, Sandra thought to herself as she tightened her grip on the gun.
"A surveillance picked him up outside the walls. Ava didn't want you to know, but there is a chance that he may try to contact you, and if he does, I'd like to think that I'd be your first call." He dryly chuckled. "That little bitch has been spotted with him too."
Thomas gripped his gun tighter, the small motion noticed by Sandra who brushed her elbow against his. It was clear as day to her that he wanted to do something to Janson and she did too, but Carlos and Minho were her first priority. Not killing Janson at that moment.
"Sandra used to be your favourite worker," Teresa said. "She still would've been if you didn't throw her brother in the maze behind her back."
What the fuck? Sandra wanted to blurt as her eyes went wide under the mask.
Janson raised a brow at her. "We needed him for the cure."
Teresa looked away from him, focusing back on the doors. "Are you going to kill them?"
"Would that be a problem?" Janson asked, staring at the side of her face.
The elevator doors opened, and Teresa took in a deep breath. "This is me." She walked out of the elevator and Sandra hesitated, but followed, hoping not to set off any suspicion with Newt following close behind her.
Thomas followed after Newt and barged his shoulder against Janson's, the sound heard from where Sandra was and she internally groaned.
"Why the hell would you do that?" Sandra questioned Thomas, walking beside him as Teresa led the way. "You would've just set off twenty red flags."
