Mina's unexpected question threw Chaeyoung off. Chaeyoung thought about it, really thought about it.
Her mouth opened but then closed it, making Mina worried about her response. "Sorry, I shouldn't have asked that." Mina chuckled, getting up from the chair. "Forget about it."
Chaeyoung grabbed her arm, not letting Mina go. Their eyes met, unexplained feelings written in them. "I...I have considered that." Chaeyoung confessed. Mina's heart jumped in glee but that happiness lasted for a second. "But we can't due to our positions."
Chaeyoung's reasoning was valid unfortunately. Maybe her parents wouldn't take the liking of her going out with an employee. Plus, she was planning to date Mark but she only knew that she didn't feel the same way as him.
"So," Mina looked into her eyes, standing a bit closer. "You feel something after all?" Chaeyoung gave a quick glance at Mina's lips before facing away.
"I'm not sure what I feel." She mumbled, focusing on the concrete path underneath them. Mina, having a wave of confidence, held Chaeyoung's cheek, making her look at her.
Chaeyoung looked back, feeling her cheeks growing hot by the soft contact. Without saying a word, Mina slowly leaned in, her lips nervously kissing Chaeyoung's.
She didn't hope for Chaeyoung to kiss back but she did hoped that this could help her. Her stomach then flipped, feeling Chaeyoung kissing her back.
Her hands slowly held her waist, kissing Mina as if it was their last. Mina moved her arms around her neck, pulling her closer.
Unlike the kiss with Mark, she actually felt something. It was like each kiss was sending fireworks, making her heart content like a child witnessing their first Fourth of July.
Chaeyoung was the first to break apart, creating distance between them. Mina looked at her with concern and hope.
"We...shouldn't be doing this." Chaeyoung turned away, rubbing her nape. Mina's eyes were glossy, tears ready to fall at any minute.
"Did...Did you at least feel something?" Mina asked, still holding on to that brink of hope that Chaeyoung will eventually confess.
Chaeyoung glanced at Mina, staying silent. It was enough to shatter Mina's heart and for her to feel hopeless.
She scoffed, "You know what, I didn't feel anything either." Mina wiped a sole tear which Chaeyoung noticed. "In fact, you're a bad kisser and I was disgusted the whole time." She mimicked a gag, turning her heel as she walked back inside.
Chaeyoung watched her, letting out a deep sigh. She slicked her hair back, feeling the cold breeze hitting her forehead.
She regretted on ever saying that but she was afraid. She was afraid of her own true feelings. Plus, she felt like she couldn't move on this quick from Nayeon. Her heart was still broken, obviously jumping to a new relationship so soon wouldn't work out.
Chaeyoung walked to her blazer that Mina dropped when she stomped away. She picked it up, staring at it with a pensive face.
She knew her heart was wanting her, choosing her, loving her. But it was too late now. Mina has Mark and is planning to go out with him. Chaeyoung couldn't do anything but to support her, though she wished Mina would just reject him.
She draped her blazer over her shoulder, walking back inside and straight to her room when someone stopped her.
"Chaeyoung," She turned to see Mrs Myoi peeking from the study room. "Can we have a chat?" Chaeyoung nodded, changing her direction.
Chaeyoung entered the room, bowing at Mr Myoi who was also inside. "What can I assist with?" Chaeyoung asked, standing straight in front of her bosses.
