"This sure does bring back memories!" Nayeon chirped, clinging onto Chaeyoung's arm. Chaeyoung was busy looking around, easily distracted by the colorful lights and the smell of delicious food.
"Yeah," Chaeyoung replied, eyes glued to the funnel cake stand. "Can we go?" She pointed, looking at Nayeon with puppy eyes.
Nayeon smiled, moving her hands to hold Chaeyoung's. "Let's save that for last. Let's start lighter?" She giggled when Chaeyoung pouted, nodding defeatedly.
The two wandered around, playing some mini games, watching a small band perform, and finally, Chaeyoung's favorite, funnel cakes.
"The line sure is long." Chaeyoung grumbled, peeking to see almost twenty people in front of them, waiting for funnel cakes. "We should've went earlier, the line was shorter." Chaeyoung crossed her arms, her patience thin.
"Well it is worth the wait." Nayeon argued back, "We saved the best thing for last." Chaeyoung shrugged, knowing that was true. Nayeon then looked around, locating the bathroom. "Hey, mind waiting here? I'll use the restroom."
"Trust me, by the time you get back, this line would not have moved an inch." Chaeyoung deadpanned and Nayeon rolled her eyes in response.
And that's how she ended up here. In front of her once close friend, Myoi Mina.
The tension was heavy, unspoken words that neither of them could utter. Mina felt slightly uncomfortable with the way Nayeon eyed her. Though, Mina understood that she had every right to feel that way.
"Look, I... know how you feel towards me and you have every right to hate me," Mina fiddled with her hands. "But, just know that I'm deeply sorry for what I did. I-I promise I didn't mean to hurt you at all..."
Nayeon kept her eyes on Mina, stubbornly not accepting her words. "If you think I would forgive you that easily then you're gravely mistaken." Nayeon sassed, crossing her arms as she took a step towards Mina. "To believe that someone like you, a close friend, would ruin my happy relationship with the girl I love."
"I deeply regret it. I was selfish, angry with myself and my desires that I was absentmindedly hurting you... When I got the news that you and Chaeyoung broke up, I knew it was because of me... Not a day goes by where I wish I didn't do what I did," Mina then paused, looking at Nayeon in the eye. "Even though it was wrong, I enjoyed my time with Chaeyoung that night. I was stubborn to even realize I had feelings for her too."
"You think that's supposed to make me feel better?" Nayeon scoffed, dramatically rolling her eyes. "You fucked Chaeyoung then go ahead and date Mark, Sehun's ex best friend. I truly doubt you feel any remorse for what you did when you go and make stupid decisions like that."
"I did it because I wanted to get revenge on Chaeyoung for lying to me about you two!" Mina cried out. "I also felt so guilty for hurting you two that I had to push Chaeyoung away! Every time she would get close I avoid her because she reminded me of you! ...She was your happiness and I took that away from you."
"You did." Nayeon clenched her jaw, "Then you went ahead and killed her own happiness." She growled, her nails digging in her arms. "Do you realize how much she is hurting because of you? Because of your actions and words? I despise you for that, Mina. Why even give Chaeyoung hope if you're going to crush it?"
"Because I..." Mina suddenly couldn't open up to Nayeon. Even if her fear of her parents not accepting her had vanished, she still was afraid of Nayeon's judgement. Hell, Nayeon had been judging her ever since she slept with Chaeyoung that night.
Nayeon subtly shook her head, scoffing after. "If you're uncertain about Chaeyoung then you should let her go."
"What?"
