ALICE'S POV:
When I finally found my apartment in the massive building, I started to unpack my clothes from my suitcase. It took awhile but when I finally finished I took a look around and realised I might learn to love it here. Monaco seemed to be a nice place, from what I've seen so far which isn't much but I hope I can settle in pretty soon.
When I looked at my phone, the time read 01:49
And I finally went to bed after texting my sister Lilly to let her know I got here safe and would call her in the morning.I usually never sleep in late but when I finally opened my eyes and checked my alarm I had realised it was 14:49 and Charles would be here soon. Shit.
I rushed around looking for clothes to wear and when I finally decided on a pair of black jeans, converse and a grey hoodie I looked out my window to see if Charles had arrived yet.
No. He hadn't. I checked the time to see if it was still before 3 and that I was worrying about nothing but No it was 15:13, and I had no way of contacting Charles to ask where he was because he wouldn't give me his number.
How could i be so stupid? Firstly he refused to give me his number, I should've known by then that he did not want to see me and now he doesn't show up.
What a dickhead.I decided not to dwell on it because I only just met him so I decided I was going to be my own tour guide. I locked my apartment and walked around the streets of Monaco, by myself.
As I was walking I found this nice, quiet little coffee shop and went in to sit down and relax for a while. As I walked in I could see there were only a few people sitting and one guy standing, waiting for his order.
I glanced around at all the paintings that were hung on the walls, when suddenly I felt myself bump into someone. The same man who was waiting for his order had bumped into me and spilled his coffee all down my grey hoodie. This day is going fantastic.
"Shit sorry" I heard a French accent say. He sounded exactly like Charles.
I look up and I was met by a young looking guy with blondish-brown hair.
"No it's okay, it's my fault I wasn't looking where I was going" I said using my sleeve to try and mop up the wet drink that covered my hoodie.
"At least let me buy you a drink, in return for ruining your hoodie" he kindly replied with an all too similar smile on his face, a smile I feel like I've seen before, but I couldn't have because I just got here.
"Ok, sure why not?" I laughed and brushed my hair out of my face as I ordered a latte, which he instantly payed for.
We both sat down at a table and began talking, his accent had been bugging me as I thought it resembled Charles'.
After a while of talking he cleared his throat as though he was trying to build up the confidence to ask me something. I looked at him sweetly trying to encourage him to say what he wanted to say.
"So, my brothers having a get together later on tonight, he told me to invite someone, and I know it might be a bit straightforward but I was wondering if you would like to come, considering you're new here, you might make some more friends" he sweetly offered, with a tint of desperation in his voice.
"I'd really like that, thank you" I accepted his offer, as I thought it would be a good way to take my mind off of things and meet some new people.
As we were about to go our separate ways after an hour of talking about random things, I realised I didn't have his number or even his name.
"Hey, I'm going to need your name if I'm going to be going to your brother's party tonight" I joked
"Oh right" he said as he laughed and rolled his eyes. "Arthur. Arthur leclerc, here give me your phone I'll put my number in" he said putting his hand out.
I opened my phone and saw the time was 17:36, I handed him my phone and he put his number in. When he was done he handed it back with a smile. "See you later....." he didn't finish his sentence as he realised he didn't know my name.
"Alice Smith" I said walking backwards towards my apartment.
Maybe my day wasn't going to be so bad after all.
CHARLES' POV:
15:47, 22nd of April
My eyes widened as I read the time on my phone. How did I manage to sleep this long?
Shit. I was supposed to pick up Alice at 3 o clock.
She's going to hate me. How am I gonna make it up to her? All of these thoughts were racing through my mind as I picked up my phone to send her a message. I didn't care if she found out I took her phone and put my number in. I didn't want to seem like some asshole who was just going to ghost her after one day. After writing and rewriting about fifty messages I finally decided on one and pressed send, or at least I thought I did.Hey, it's me, Charles, I'm sorry for not showing up today, I slept in, how can I make this up to you?
