I don't know what was going through my head when I kissed Charles. I guess I was just caught up in the moment and besides it was just on his cheek, that doesn't even count, right?
My head was swirling and I started to overthink everything, as per usual but my thoughts were interrupted by a tap on my shoulder.
I turned around to be greeted by a familiar face.
"Arthur? I didn't know you were here" I wrapped my arms around his shoulders and pulled him into a hug. I can't deny that I didn't miss his presence, even thought I barely knew him he had that kinda energy that you would miss.
"I just flew over for the race, had to see how well Charles' new lucky Charm would work" Arthur joked, poking my side and standing beside me as we turned to face the podium. Charles hadn't made his way out yet but we wanted to be prepared for when he did.
"Lucky charm?" I questioned, not quite sure what he was referring to. Turning my head to look at him with a confused look on my face which made him laugh.
"Well, you of course" Arthur stated as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.
I simply scoffed as I assumed he was making fun of me and Charles' relationship, if I could even call it that.
But Arthur noticed my reaction and was quick to act on it.
"Hey I'm serious, I haven't seen Charles this happy in a while. I don't think I've ever seen him smile the way he did when he saw you and that's saying something because I'm his brother" He said, giving me a sincere smile.
I opened my mouth to reply but it was a if the words were taken away from me. I did not know what to say, we have only know each other a week, surely he didn't feel that way?
Instead of replying I just looked up to the podium as I watched the announcer announce Lando, who had snatched third place, and then Max and finally Charles. He walked out and punched his fist into the air, pointing at his team in the crowd of people.
Then his eyes caught mine, winking at me and flashing me a smile. I blushed, turning to Arthur to make sure he wasn't looking at me but he was unfortunately.
"I told you" Arthur said shrugging and I just playfully punched him as I didn't have an answer to his words. Charles was only smiling at me like that because he wanted people to believe in us. That's the only reason.
I watched as Charles received his trophy and sprayed his celebratory bottle over his fellow podium standers. The second I turn my head I become drowned in liquid, I turn my head to see Charles aiming his bottle at me and spraying me with it. I gave him a fake dirty look as he sent another wink my way before making his way off of the podium.
I made my way through the crowd as I held on to Arthur's arm for support. I noticed cameras taking pictures of us but I thought nothing of it. Arthur led me back to the Ferrari garage and informed me that he would be heading back to his hotel. I stood outside the garage for a while, feeling overwhelmed by the crowd of people inside when I heard a familiar voice.
"Alice" I heard the British accent say. I turned to Lando with a smile.
"Hey Lando, congrats on the podium" I placed my hand on his shoulder, he tensed up at first but settled after a moment.
"Thank you, if it wasn't for your boyfriend I think I would've gotten the win, where is Leclerc anyways?" Lando asked after looking around to find Charles.
"He's just inside talking to his race engineer, he should be out in a few minutes. Would you like to speak to him?" I questioned, trying to continue the conversation.
"No, it was you I wanted to speak to actually, I was wondering if you would like to come to a party tonight?" Lando asked with a look of apprehension on his face.
"Sure, can I bring Charles?'' I spoke almost as if the question came natural to me. I wouldn't want to go on my own anyways.
"oh, uh sure if you want to'' Lando said quietly, he sounded dissapointed but I couldn't understand why. He was good friends with Charles, wasn't he?
"Ok I'll see you then, send me on the details will you?" I added to Lando as he turned and left the paddock leaving me by myself again but I wasn't alone for long as I was greeted by a tired looking Charles.
"Hey" Charles greeted, wrapping his arm around my shoulder as he lead me towards the exit of the paddock. He smelled fresh, which is surprising because he had just finished a race.
"Hi, Lando invited me to a party tonight and I asked if I could bring you and he said yes" I informed Charles with a smile as we made our way to his car.
"He invited just you?" Charles asked, I expected him to be happy but he looked more confused.
"Yes, why?"
"Well then he doesn't want me to go, you should go by yourself" Charles stated as he started his car and pulled out of the car park and onto the road. He glanced at me when I hadn't answered.
"Fine" I did not want to fight with him and question why he didn't want to go so I just decided to keep my thoughts to myself as I looked out of the passenger window to avoid his gaze.
The drive back to the hotel was quiet. No words had been exchanged and all that could be heard was the radio which had been turned up by Charles to fill the void of silence.
Once we reached the hotel, I rushed to my room without speaking a word to Charles. Lando had texted me the time and place and I had about three hours to get ready. The party would be in a nightclub near the track, it was known for the famous celebrities that would spend their nights there.
After laying in bed for about two hours I decided to get ready, putting on a small, tight black dress and heels.
I thought I looked quite nice so I decided to post on instagram. I hoped Charles would see it and maybe change his mind about not coming.
