I woke up to the feeling of someone shaking me. I blinked my eyes open seeing a figure looming above me, she soon began to speak. "Finally, your awake. You're a pretty deep sleeper you know?" I sat up as my eyes started to focus on Iris, she flipped through my journal while I watched her. "Y'know, it's not polite to look through someone's things?"
I said, she removed her gaze from the journal for a moment. She shrugged her shoulders with a small smile before looking back to the journal. "You have very nice handwriting, who taught you?" I swung my legs off the side of my hammock putting my black boots on. "My aunt, she taught me until I was ten. After that it was just a lot of writin' on my own, guess after writin' a while you get better?" She nodded, closing it before she placed it back in my satchel by my hammock.
"You're also pretty good at drawing, there's very few pictures, but they aren't bad." I nodded, placing my black hat on my head, my hands touched my hair. Maybe leaving it out of a braid today would be a good idea. I grabbed the blue vest from the stand walking out of my tent as I placed it over my white shirt. Iris followed on my heels. "Eliza wanted me to ask when you were going into town, something about a moonshine business?"
I stopped and looked at her before glancing over at the horses where Jameson was attending to River. "Yes, I'll go see her about that. Thank you, Iris." She nodded skipping across camp over to Brandy and Ghale. I walked over to Junior petting him before Jameson noticed me. "Morning." Jameson said pouring grain into a trough, I took the brush from beside the grain sack before brushing Junior's coat. "Mornin' Jameson, have you seen Eliza at all yet?"
He walked over placing a medal bucket under the wagon, he turned back to me before speaking. "I saw her earlier with Iris. Other than that, no." I nodded as I placed the brush back by the sack. I removed a sugar cube from my satchel letting Junior take it from my hand, he snorted and took it with no hesitation. I patted Junior's neck as he chewed the small cube before looking at Jameson with a raised brow.
"Aren't you and Henry supposed to be heading over to that oil business?" He brought his head up looking at me for a moment. "I'm just waiting on Henry, he said that he would be back in a little." I shook my head, grabbing my black saddle and placing it on Junior, pulling it tight around his middle. I patted him again before ducking under his head and stopping beside Jameson to speak.
"What did Elizabeth say to you last night?" He looked at me for a moment, thinking. "Nothing important, and not anything that you think she might have said." I smirked at him, putting my hand on his shoulder and looking up at him. "I'm just surprised she can make you that flustered, all those years of hiding it and you break at a couple words." He chuckled. "Shut up." Jameson added with a sigh as Henry hopped on Bren. "You ready to get going Jameson?" Henry questioned, pulling Jameson's attention to him. "I'll leave you two go, tell me how you do when you get back." Jameson turned his head to me before Henry spoke. "Alright, don't get into any trouble with Elizabeth and Shea either." Jameson nodded. hopping on to River, he spoke. "Sounds good."
I started making my way over to Shea when I saw Elizabeth sitting beside her. I stopped in front of them pulling their attention to me. "Good morning Amber! How'd you sleep?" Elizabeth said with a wide smile on her face, I looked over at Shea before returning my gaze to Elizabeth. "Fine, had a slightly rude awakening. Fine though." Elizabeth tilted her head to look at Shea for a moment before turning back to me.
"I'm sorry, I told Iris to wake you up. I hope she didn't jump on you or something." I shook my head kicking some of the dirt on the ground with my boot. "Nah, it's fine. I needed to get up anyways, y'all ready to go see about the moonshine business?" Elizabeth stood up quickly skipping over to Patricia while Shea followed behind her. I stopped by Junior making sure his saddle was set while Elizabeth and Shea climbed on their horses.
