Chapter 5: Wicked

Thomas's POV

It felt good last night talking to my friend. Sometimes I get these butterfly feelings in my stomach looking at her blue eyes. I don't deserve Teresa, after how I treated her and everything, and what she confessed, you should never judge a book by its cover. I trusted what she had said, it all made sense now how she saved me from Ratman aka Janson.

I had a good night's sleep, till I heard bombing and Minho woke me up.

"You ugly shank wake up!" He yelled. I opened my eyes to see a worried Minho.

" What happened?" I yelled.

" You need to get out of here and I'll explain." he said. He dragged me out of the bed and I saw everyone running out and there was fire. I saw from a distance that Brenda pushed Teresa into the hut and said something.

"YOU BETRAYED US AND I TRUSTED YOU, WHY WOULD YOU BETRAY US AGAIN!" She yelled, Brenda is really scary when she's angry. Minho and I ran to her and we both tried to separate those two.

" Teresa, you ok?" I asked her with a soft whisper. She nodded her head, didn't even try to speak. I could hear from a distance Brenda was still cursing at her. I looked at Teresa and told her " Come on, let's get out of here."

How did Wicked get here? I thought to myself, we all destroyed Wicked a long time ago, what it felt like. But how did they come here? We all evacuated, with Minho, Frypan, Gally, Teresa, Brenda, and so many others. We could see the beach houses were destroyed, and we saw some of the guards coming down and destroying all the huts. I looked at all the huts, slowly getting destroyed, fire coming out, and the stone where Minho carved Newt's name on it. It was all gone. I couldn't be depressed anymore, so we all ran out far away from the beach.

" Where's Thomas?" Janson yelled, I could hear it from all the way from a mile away. He was really loud, but I thought I killed him. We didn't have time to think, and I didn't want to see his stupid face.

Once we were far away, we spotted a cave and decided to rest there. I could still see Brenda is still angry at Teresa. Brenda pulled out a knife and pointed it to Teresa.

" Whoa whoa, Brenda wait." I went between her and Teresa.

" I don't trust her, Thomas." It looked like there was fire in her eyes.

" Just calm down, Teresa wouldn't do that." I tried to calm down.

"It wasn't me." Teresa finally spoke.

" Why would I trust you?" Brenda looked like she was about to kill her.

" Trust me or not, I was with you guys, plus why would I call Wicked, I saw Thomas strangle Janson when I tried to save him." She spoke the truth.

" Bull crap," Brenda was still mad.

" You saved Thomas, that's how I know you're lying, especially when you betrayed all of us." she said, pointing her knife at Teresa.

" It's true," I said. Brenda looked at me confused.

"What?" She looked puzzled.

"Teresa saved me, she wouldn't have called Janson especially when he tortured Minho." I looked at him. It still traumatized him to this day, he still had dreams about it.

"Teresa told me, she only betrayed us because of me." I told them. They all looked confused.

" What do you mean Teresa betrayed us because of you?" Minho looked puzzled.

"Wicked told Teresa if she didn't betray us, they would have me killed." I told them the whole truth.

"How would you know she's not lying." Brenda said angrily, she looked like she was gonna kill someone.

"She's not. Brenda, I knew her ever since I was four, we were good friends." I looked at Teresa, but she looked down feeling guilty.

" SHE IS THE REASON WHY NEWT IS DEAD!"

" ENOUGH BRENDA." I got so angry, she was surprised that I would even scream at her.

"All Teresa wanted to do is find a cure." I looked at Brenda one last time, and left the cave. I walked for about a mile and saw a lake. I sat down and picked up some stones and just threw them there. It didn't bounce, but I was angry, not because of Teresa betraying me, but the way Brenda was talking to her, I couldn't handle it. I'm hoping that no one comes and finds me.
