Her and I

Chapter 3: Breakfast

Thomas's POV

She's alive, I thought, I couldn't even remember what had happened 24 hours ago, but Minho saved her, he saved Teresa. I was so grateful I couldn't even think straight. I touched both of her cheeks, just to make sure it wasn't a dream.

" Oh my, Teresa Agnes." I couldn't take it anymore, I started to cry, really bad.

" What happened?" she asked me.

" I- You- you're alright, and that's what matters to-" I couldn't form the words.

" Tom, it's ok. You're here and I'm here." She gave me a hug.

"You get some rest." I told her, I have no idea what I just did, but I kissed her forehead, and left before she could react.

I headed outside, it was so sunny that it blinded me. I put my hands above me so I could see, I felt a pain in my stomach. I raised my shirt a bit only to see blood around the bandage, it was wrapped around it. It hit me, I remembered I got shot yesterday.

I went to find Minho, but he was nowhere to be seen, I saw everyone just doing their own thing. People were laughing with each other, Frypan making breakfast, it looked like people were having fun. I saw a familiar person, it was Minho. He looked at me, and I looked at him. He went up to me and hugged me tightly, I did too. Once we let go, I saw that he was wearing Newt's jacket, gosh, I miss him so much.

From a distance, I could see that Brenda got closer to Frypan. I mean what happened yesterday, they made the perfect team. She saved so many people that were here today. I turned around and saw none other than Teresa talking with Brenda as well. They were having the perfect conversation, till Minho showed up and gave me something.

"You dropped this when you passed out." He said, giving me a necklace that looked like a bottle. I opened it up, only to see a letter inside. There were about two long pages, the writing in cursive. The first thing I saw was 'Dear Thomas, this is my first letter I'm writing, but it could be my last.' Great way of a starting point, Newt. I read the letter, and I was already in tears after what he said. With Newt gone, Minho and I will always remember that there were three.

I realized that Minho never got a letter from Newt, Minho deserves a letter from him. They were best friends too. I put both of the letters back into the bottle, and soon Vince got his glass and a fork, and hit it to get our attention.

He said that whoever wasn't here today, would be carved into that stone, to show their respect to them. Once he was done saying that, Minho carved 'Newt' name to it. Soon I saw Chuck's name on there too, and Ben, Winston, Mary, so many others it felt like it couldn't fit.

It was finally night time, everyone was about to go to sleep until I saw Teresa, sitting down, on one of the hut, she was resting on the edge of the hut, looking at the ocean, it looked like she was about to fall asleep. I sat down next to her, as we were both looking at the ocean. We haven't said anything for a while, just quiet and peaceful, as we were listening to the ocean waves.

"I'm still heartbroken of what you have done." I decided to start the conversation.

"I know," she said with a soft whisper.

" I just did it for you." She said, I looked confused, for me? Why's that?

" What- what do you mean?" I blinked so much, actually really confused.

"There's something I haven't told you or to the others." She couldn't make eye contact with me, still looking at the ocean.

"And what's that?" I was eager to know what she was talking about.

"Wicked told me something that I couldn't just not take." she said a little bit loud and not a whisper. She was still not making eye contact, I know this was serious.

"They told me I should betray you guys, if I didn't, you would have been killed." I just looked at her, not confused for the first time. Maybe, that's why she wanted to save me, deep down she probably cares for me a lot.

"I had no choice Thomas. I wish it was that simple, I didn't want to betray you, but having you killed, I had no choice."
