When she leaves to freshen up Luke follows after a few seconds. She slips into the woman's bathroom and he waited outside the door for her. When she comes out, she's put on a new layer of lipstick.
"Do you need something?"
He steps forward." Are you sure you wanna do this?"
"I'll be okay, Alvez."
"I don't think you should." He answers honestly.
She turns to him. For a a few seconds they just look at each other. Felicity gives him a smile that doesn't quite meet her eyes. "I can do this. Thanks for worrying about me, Lu. But I'll be fine."
"No you won't, Flick." He grabs her arm lightly." We can send in JJ or someone else."
"No, now if you'll excuse me, I have a killer to catch." She slips out of his hold and leaves him alone in the small hallway.
After a few minutes he follows after her and goes back to the interrogation room right as Tara and Felicity enter. By their stances, Luke can tell Tara is the bad cop. Felicity the good.
"Hi, sorry it took so long. Do you need anything before we get started?" Felicity asks giving the man a smile.
Tara rolls her eyes. "He's a murderer, Chase. He doesn't deserve anything."
"Well excuse me for having some empathy." Felicity shoots back before taking a seat. She flips through the file waiting for Tara to take the lead.
Tara takes a seat with a bored expression. "Okay so you wanna confess now or what?"
"I didn't kill anyone." The man answers leaning back in his seat. Luke notes how he can't stop looking at Felicity's bare throat.
"You know looking at this file, I'm not sure he did." Felicity looks up at the man, false sincerity playing on her voice.
"What does that mean?" He asks immediately.
"It means she doesn't think you have the brains or brawn to pull this off." Tara mutters.
Luke watched as the man turns a bright shade of red. Felicity shoots Tara a angry look." I'm trying to talk to him one on one, can you please stop being mean?"
Tara kicks her legs up and rests them on the table." Fine."
Felicity leans forward. The man's gaze sits on her bare collarbone before trailing up to her chin. His eyes never meet hers as she speaks. "So you strangled three girls? You know I would never usually say this but that's impressive." She leans forward a little more, dangling the bait in front of his face.
The man's eyes shoot upward but immediately fall down again. He says nothing.
"Too impressive." Tara mutters, drumming her fingers on the metal table.
He only eyes her throat." I didn't kill them."
Tara slams the most recent crime scene photo onto the table. "Was it your brother?"
"What?"
"Well I know for certain it wasn't you, Randy. So it had to be your brother. What's his name again? Oh yeah Garret." She smiles." He's stronger, he's better, more capable-"
"Garret is not better than me. And my name is Ryan." He mutters.
"Oh but he is. You're pathetic-"
"Stop it." Felicity says sympathetically. "Go for a breather I'll handle this."
Tara sighs before leaving the room when she's back out with the rest of the crew she nods."He's taking the bait."
"Now we just need to reel him in." Emily mutters leaning forward.
"Ryan, I'm sorry about my partner. But she's right." Felicity says with a long sigh. "We already have your brother in custody. All we need is a confession and he's going away with all the glory of the murders."
"Glory?" He asks, leaning forward.
"Yeah." She leans forward as well.
On the other side of the glass, you could hear a pin drop. Everyone holds their breathe.
"He doesn't deserve any glory."
"Then who does?"
His eyes trail over her collarbone once more. And then he goes silent. Emily nods at Tara. She bursts into the room. " Garret admired to all the murders."
He shoots up from his seat, his handcuffs rattling." He didn't do them."
"That's not what he said."
Without warning, Ryan lunges forward his hands grab Felicity by the wrist. "He didn't kill them!! He didn't kill them." He squeezes her wrist and shakes as if trying to shake sense into her." I killed them all. Every last one of them."
Felicity tries to pull her arm free but Luke is already through the door pulling Ryan back. She holds her bruised wrist as more officers come barging in and bring the killer to his cell.
"Are you okay??"
"We got the confession." Felicity mutters to him." That's all that matters."
Luke stares at her wrist." He hurt you."
"I know." She answers before pulling her arm away and leaving the interrogation room.
Luke follows behind, anger evident in his face. Matt shoots him a look as he walks past. But he doesn't say a word.
On the plane later, Felicity finds a seat furtherest from everyone else and spends the duration of it staring out the window. Luke takes a seat beside her." How's your wrist?"
"Good. Just a little bruised."
" I don't like you getting hurt." Luke answers, staring at the purple marks.
"At least he just went for my wrist." She mutters, still staring out the window.
"What is that supposed to mean?"
Her voice is quiet." Let's just say I wish I wore a turtleneck today." Her hand absentmindedly touches her throat.
Luke clenches his jaw but said nothing as she leans her head against the window.
That night he doesn't sleep well. Felicity had been on his mind a lot over the past few days. If she continues on this path, he isn't sure how much of herself she'd have by the end. He wants to cling to the version of her he'd met a few weeks ago but even that was a little faded.
He knows that it won't be long before she stops caring and when that happens, the job or Felicity herself would drag her down 6 feet. So that night, he books an appointment with the EAU counselor for the BAU under Felicity's name and number.
He knows she will be upset at him but he doesn't care. Her well being is important to him.
