Chapter 7: Assesment

It's been three moons since the rogue came to the camp. Her name was Mouse and her kits names were Foxkit, Brownkit, and Sunkit. Daisypaw woke up and walked outside. The sun was slowly going up the horizon. She went over to the fresh kill pile and saw Mouse come out with her three kits yowling at her.
"Why won't you stay! Why are you going to leave when we're apprenticed?!" Foxkit mewed. Daisypaw crept backward into the apprentices den. She didn't want Mouse to know she was eavesdropping. "Because this isn't the life I want to live. I want to keep wandering around and exploring. I knew you kits wouldn't want that so I want you to stay here. Become good warriors, or whatever you call it," Mouse meowed. She went to grab a piece of fresh kill. Mouse paused and scented the air. She shrugged her shoulders and went to grab a thrush and a mouse. She walked back to the nursery and dropped the mouse next to her kits. Her kits were still wailing about her leaving. "Be quiet. I don't want any other cat to here you guys wailing." "Sorry," the three kits mewed at the same time. They sat down and shared a mouse together while their mother ate the thrush. When they finished they went back inside the nursery. "What's going on?" Daisypaw jumped at the sound of Leafpaws voice. "N-nothing. I was just about to head out and eat. Wanna share?" "Sure." They both walked out and Daisypaw told Leafpaw to sit by the apprentices den. She grabbed a plump mouse and walked over to Leafpaw. She waved her tail in hello to Blizzardpaw as she walked out. She sat down and ate her mouse with Leafpaw. Today they were going to do their assessment. Even though Daisypaw only trained for five moons instead of six is because she was excelling in her training, and her mentor felt she was ready. Both Leafpaw and Daisypaw were sun bathing in the early sun. Daisypaw looked up and saw Lightstar jumping up to the highrock.
"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the highrock for a clan meeting." Leafpaw shot her head up at the sound of Lightstars voice. They both got up and stretched. Then they walked over to the group of cats. Daisypaw sat with Rosepetal and Badgerjaw, along with Blizzardpaw and Leafpaw with their mentors. A surge of fear went through Daisypaw because the dawn patrol came back not too long ago. She wondered if they found a badger set or a fox set, or something worse.
"I have called a meeting to appoint three new apprentices." Daisypaw relaxed knowing it was just going to be new apprentices. She was excited to show them around the den. She saw Fernkit, Spottedkit, and Birdkit bound up the highrock with excitement with their mother, Icetail, looking at them with proud eyes. "Fernkit, Spottedkit, and Birdkit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it time for you to be apprenticed. Fernkit, from this day forward, you will be known as Fernpaw. Your mentor will be Longwhisker. Spottedkit, from this day forward, you will be known as Spottedpaw. Your mentor will be Redspots. Birdkit, from this day forward you will be known as Birdpaw. Your mentor will be Badgerjaw. I hope they will pass down all they know to you three." The three apprentices touched noses with their mentors."Fernpaw! Spottedpaw! Birdpaw!" The six looked pleased with themselves and jumped off the rock. "We have one more ceremony to perform. Treebark, come forward." Treebark walked forward and jumped up to the lowest point of the highrock. "Treebark, is it your wish to give up the name of a warrior and join the elders"
"It is."
"Your clan honors you and all the service you have given to us. I call upon Starclan to give you many moons of rest."
"Treebark! Treebark! Treebark!" Lightstar jumped down and went over to speak with Dovefeather. "Are you ready?" Daisypaw was startled by her voice. "Rosepetal, you nearly scared my fur off!" "Sorry, I wasn't trying to scare you. But are you three ready. It's almost sunhigh." "Daisypaw and I are ready. I'm not sure about Leafpaw though." "I'm ready!" Leafpaw meowed as she ran up to them. "Where's Rabbitfoot. We should be going now."
Daisypaw saw Rabbitfoot talking with his mate, Mosspelt. He said something urgently than ran towards them. "Sorry I'm late. I had to check on Mosspelt." "Well next time, pay attention to the time. We're late." Whiteclaw meowed. The six cats walked towards the camps entrance and out into the forest. "We're going to leave you here. Remember, we're going to be hidden and watching you." The three mentors scattered in three directions. Each apprentice followed a similar path to their mentors. Daisypaw stopped every few steps to scent the air. She caught the scent of vole. She remembered what had happened to Brightpelt when she ate it. A shiver went down her spine. She passed it, worried it's still poisened. She kept going and scented a mouse. She crept towards it, pounced it and killed it with one swift bite to the neck. She kept going. She scented Rosepetal and went the other way, afraid she would run into her. She scented a starling and dropped into a hunters crouch. She crept towards it, slowly. She pounced and killed it.
Daisypaw had finished her assessment and was walking back with the group. She had caught two mouse, three starlings, and one thrush. They got back to the camp and dropped their fresh kill into the pile. "So how did I do?" asked Daisypaw. "Excellent. I should go tell Lightstar." Excitement swept through Daisypaws fur. She was going to be a warrior now!

Authors note: Hey guys! I'm just here to update you on this book. So right Daisypaw is ten moons old. She encountered the camp we she was six moons. Her apprenticeship was delayed because of her injury by a moon and a half. So, Daisypaw, Leafpaw, and Blizzardpaw are ten moons old. I thought I would just let you know that. Also, I will post the new apprentices, Warriors, and stuff in this. Thanks for understanding!! Talk to you later!
