Chapter 9: Trapped

Daisyflower woke up and looked around. She started to panic but then realized she was a warrior now. She got up and saw Blizzardwind and Leafstorm sleeping in the moss next to her. She started to groom herself and felt something move behind her. Blizzardwind and Leafstorm were waking up. "What time it is?" Leafstorm asked drowsily. "Almost sunset," replied Daisyflower. They both walked outside and went to the camps entrance. The three took there place and sat down. The sundown patrol brushed past them. Daisyflower gave a nod in hello to Rosepetal and Badgerjaw. I hope this doesn't take long, Daisyflower thought. The three sat there the whole night. Nothing strange happened or appeared.
It was the next day and the dawn patrol returned. Daisyflower looked at them. The patrol consisted of Spottedpaw and Fernpaw, along with their mentors, Longwhisker and Shiningpelt, and Dovefeather. Dovefeather gave a nod and the three cats got up and went over to the warriors den for a nap. Daisyflower walked in and saw that the rest of the cats were waking up. She went over to here den in the back and lied down. She put her tail over her nose and soon went to sleep.
Daisyflower woke up and gave a huge yawn. She sat up and shook moss from her pelt. She started to walk out when she heard a voice. "Is it sunhigh already?" Leafstorm meowed. "Yeah, I think so." Leafstorm got up and padded Blizzardwind in the rib. "Wake up." "I didn't do it!" Blizzardwind meowed. "Oh, it was just a dream." "What happened?" Daisyflower meowed. "Nothing." the three walked out of the den and went to grab a piece of fresh kill. They ate their share quietly. After they ate their fresh kill they went in the sun to sun bathe.
My kit! Where's my kit!" Daisyflower jumped and walked over to the nursery. It was Mouse who was wailing about here missing kit. Lightstar came bursting through the entrance. "What happened?" "I went to take a nap with my kits and when I woke up Foxkit was gone!" "I'll send a patrol out immediately. Daisyflower, can you lead one?" "Yes." Daisyflower has been on many patrols before, so she's practically an expert. "Get three more cats with you." "Leafstorm, Blizzardwind?" "Sure," they both replied. Daisyflower walked out of the nursery and looked around. She saw Rosepetal and Badgerjaw talking to each other. She couldn't ask Rosepetal, she was busy. She kept looking and saw Redspots. She asked him if he wanted to help them. He nodded and came along. Daisyflower and her patrol ran out. Daisyflower slowed down and tried to track Foxkits scent train. She found his trail several heat beats later. "Hey guys, I found his scent trail." Daisyflower, Leafstorm, Redspots and Blizzardwind followed Foxkits scent trail. Soon, they saw Foxkit go into a fern bush. Redspots ran after Foxkit, but suddenly, he flew up into the air. He got caught in the badger trap! "Somebody help me!" He yowled. "What do we do!" Blizzardwind asked Daisyflower. Daisyflower started thinking what to do. She looked at the trap. Maybe we could cut the vine with our claws. No he would fall and injure himself more. What about the knot in the tree? Daisyflower thought. She jumped up the tree and started to claw at the knot. "Blizzardwind, make sure he doesn't hit the ground too hard, just in case I loose my grip. Leafstorm, go and get Foxkit. Meet us back at camp." The two cats did as they told as Daisyflower loosed the vine. The vine broke and she caught it before Redspots fell all the way to the ground. She slowly lowered him to the ground safely. She jumped down and both the cats worked on getting the vine off his back leg. His leg was destroyed. It was cut it all the way down to the bone from his knee to his paw. They got the vine to untie and had Redspots lean on her shoulder. They brought him back to the camp safely. Daisyflower led him to the medicine cats den. "Whoa, what happened?!" Appletree meowed. "He got caught in a badger trap. Will he be okay?" Daisyflower meowed. Appletree paused and examined his leg. "I'm not sure. I might have to amputate his leg."
