Third POV:

It didn't take Sunny long to reach the northern border of the ancient walls of the Dark City.

Looking back Sunny could see an expansive city lay in ruins. The beautiful stone buildings were broken and shattered, many of them turned into mere piles of rubble. With a Sigh Sunny turned his head toward a nearby watchtower and made his way toward it.

The structure was round in shape, rising above the main embankment by a good dozen meters. There was a wide wooden gate leading inside the tower, which was broken a long time ago, with only a few splinters remaining on the ancient iron hinges.

Behind the doorway, there was nothing but darkness. Sending his Shadow forward, Sunny felt a familiar Shadow from within.

Slightly surprised, Sunny called:

"Neph? What are you doing here?"

Nephis was sitting on the other side of the room facing the door. The hilt of her sword rested comfortably against her shoulder and the breastplate of her armor, as its blade reached the uneven and rough surface of the floor right in front of her crossed legs.

Noticing his presence Nephis Slowly opened her eyes and calmly stood up from her meditating position, her sword rattling against the curves of her armor as she took hold of it.

Her face held cues of someone contemplating something that was bothering them, But soon Her Eyes found Sunny standing at the entrance of the watchtower giving her a questioning look.

In her usual even tone, Nephis spoke, responding with the same questioning look he was giving her:

"I can ask you the same question, can't I?"

Her Grey eyes were serene and collected.

Feeling a slight headache creeping up thanks to his flaw, Sunny Let out a soft sigh and eventually answered:

"Yes, you can."

Although he said that, Sunny's mind was on a marathon of its own.

'Nephis wasn't supposed to leave the cohort all by themselves and venture out of her way alone like this.'

"What about the others?"

Sunny asked. His expression conveyed that he wasn't pleased with the situation, but pretending as if she didn't notice it, Nephis simply answered.

"They are gathered in one of the ancient buildings of the Dark City, a good distance away from the bright Castle."

'This shouldn't be happening.... '

Sunny thought. This was another variable that he was the cause of, and he had to deal with it somehow.

Sunny could tell what Nephis was about to do, It didn't take a genius to figure that out after all. If he didn't have the moonlight shard, the expedition to the northern statue wouldn't have been delayed this much, and the cohort would have already had the Shard by the time they left the dark City.

And Nephis wouldn't have gone off her way and marched toward the northern statue by herself.

Sunny wanted to resolve this dilemma and venture toward the statue by himself. Quietly and as soon as possible.
