never set your favorite song as your alarm or ringtone. you end up waking up from a deep slumber to the melody of afraid by the neighbourhood and you might end up hating the song.

that was exactly what savannah felt when her phone blared the song like a siren under her pillow. the poor girl barely got any sleep the previous night, pulling an all-nighter so she could write an essay.

she was sure it wasn't her alarm because it was way too early for that. her first class was at 11 am that day and she had set an alarm for 10-  it was way too early.

it was a call. in all honesty, she tried her best to ignore it and sleep through it. it was very unlikely that someone was dying, and even if someone was dying, savannah couldn't care less at the moment.

the phone finally stopped ringing and it was peaceful for a while before it started ringing again, making the girl want to rip out all her hair and scream.

she finally reached for it from under her pillow and sat up straight when she saw it was from her dad.

"savannah!" the man sounded too joyful for 8 in the morning
"dad, I was asleep" she groaned and heard her dad click his tongue from the other side of the line
"i bet you stayed up the whole night- you should fix your sleep schedule, honey. anyways i wanted to tell you that jisoo's daughter is back in korea for a while so we were thinking of having dinner with her tomorrow"

savannah's eyes shot wide open at the mention of her soon to be step-mother's mention. she totally forgot about her father remarrying- she forgot that haru was going to be her step sister soon.

"oh about that," she said as she finally got out of bed and let out a yawn, "me and haru have some common friends and we're all going out today too"

her father sounded happy at the information and was almost yelling when he said, "that's perfect, savvy!"

she groaned at the nickname, "don't call me that, please"
"I'll consider it, savvy. hey, listen, i need to go now, but I'll text you about what time we're meeting up for dinner tomorrow, okay? take care."
"okay, dad. take care. love you"
"love you more, savvy"

savannah smiled wide as the call ended. she couldn't recall the last time she had remembered her father being this happy before he had met his new fiance. he was finally moving on, starting a new chapter in life. she was happy for him.

she hoped she would be able to do the same soon.
