Knox Briggs
He's been asleep for hours, and my body is sore from laying in this shitty bed. I've gotten up to piss a couple of times, but every time I get up he wakes up, and everyone goes into panic mode.
But he hasn't lost his shit since yesterday, so I think something is helping. I'm scrolling through my emails, trying to get my lesson plans sent out so my sub can get the work to my students.
Alexander stirs in my arms, rubbing his eyes as he lets out a heavy breath. His eyes flicker open, and the daze looks, the look of confusion isn't there anymore. He slowly sits up, and I set my phone aside. "Need a drink?" he nods, and I hand him his gatorade as he chugs half of it in one go. His parents left an hour ago, to eat and change.
Zeke didn't want to leave, but Peyton made him.
"The doctors should be in any minute for more meds. They want to see how you're doing today to see if you can go home. I think I'm going to be staying with you for a couple weeks while they talk to other packs' 'I informed him of what was talked about while he was out. He just nods again, glancing down at his bandaged arms.
"I'm so sorry for all of this" he whispers after a moment, and my heart cracks.
Turning towards him, I cup his face with one hand, while running my fingers through his curls with the other. "It's not your fault angel" i murmur, "You can't help it"
"Being a freak? Yeah, I know" he snaps, his body moving from mine. He gets to his feet a lot quicker than I thought possible. My entire body tenses, and he notices right away. His eyes narrow, and his shoulders tighten.
"I'm not losing it. I'm fine. Just frustrated" he adds softly, as he starts pacing.
"Maybe you should just lay back down" I'm on my feet, coming into his space as i speak. He shakes his head.
"No, I've been laying in that bed forever. I need to get moving. I need to get out of here before it makes me nuts" he rushes the words, as he continues to pace.
The nurse knocks, before stepping in. "Hey.. everything okay?" her voice is soft, like she's worried if she speaks too loudly it'll break him.
"Fine" Xan sighs, his shoulders relaxing. "I just want to go home" he tacks on.
"The doctor has been talking about discharging you today. But we have a list of meds we want you on. It's just getting everything processed. You think you can stay calm for us to move on with the progress?" she asks, speaking so sweetly.
Alexander nods, hooking his arms around his body. "I'm fine. Just don't like being in new places" he murmurs, climbing back on the bed. He sits criss-crossed. The nurse hands him meds, and water and he takes them. She gives a sweet smile before leaving.
"I'm not a child" Xan snaps, tugging his knees to his chest.
"I didn't say you were" I say flatly, sitting on the opposite end of the bed. One leg is bent, my knee to my chest as the other hangs off the bed.
"Everyone is going to treat me like I'm made of glass. It's the worst part of all this" he says more to himself, but i take that in.
"You want people to treat you normally?" I ask, clearing up what he means.
"I want people to understand that there's a chemical imbalance in my head, and that to me, that was the only available option.'' He speaks so fluently, not like someone who's been sedated for days. His voice is strong.
"Therapy doesn't help?"
"How do you know I'm in therapy?" his brows crease. Fuck. I didn't mean to let it slip, but I don't miss a beat with my lie. Well sort of a lie.
