Dev
I took my second cup of coffee today and came back to my seat, as I was looking after the data, then my phone rang, and I saw it was my dad. I immediately picked up the call, dad doesn't usually call in office times.
"Hello, papa. Everything is fine?" I said as soon as I answered the call
"Hello dev, yes everything is fine, actually good here" my father's answer relaxed me
"Dev, actually I have called to inform you that we have fixed your engagement with Manasa" Dad said shocking me, when did this happen? Wait? So, they agreed to the alliance, woahh nice.
"They have come with 2 dates and we thought it would be best if it is on Sunday, so that all our relatives can attend the ceremony. And they agreed to that as well so we have fixed it for this month 24th" seems like they did all the planning already and just informed me that, it's not a problem that they decided it but it would have been nice if they included me. Okay can't do anything now, can I?
"Okay, papa," I said still in a little shock that I am getting married or engaged for now
"Get your holidays now itself dev, and yeah think and decide your invitees' list after going home. There is a lot of work. Okay?" oh they already started the planning too, it seems so fast
"Yes Dad" I replied at the loss for words
"Okay there are so many things to discuss let's do it after your office, but remember to prepare the list first thing after getting home" Dad reminded me again
"Yes, bye Dad" I ended the call.
I am going to get engaged, oh my freaking god! I turned around to see people work, oh I need to get the work done fast and go home first, I guess I will be going home early for the first time in a while.
As I sat back down at my desk with my third cup of coffee, trying to wrap my head around the sudden news of my engagement, my colleague Raj sauntered over, a mischievous glint in his eyes.
"Hey, Dev! You look like you've seen a ghost. Everything alright?" Raj grinned, clearly enjoying my discomfort.
I rolled my eyes. "Yeah, just found out I'm getting engaged," I muttered, still in a daze.
Raj's eyes widened in mock horror. "What? And they didn't even consult you? Man, you're doomed!"
I shot him a mock glare. "Thanks for the vote of confidence, Raj."
But even amidst the chaos of my racing thoughts and Raj's teasing, there was a flicker of excitement building inside me. Manasa. The thought of her brought a smile to my face, despite the whirlwind of emotions.
Manasa
This is the moment I dread the most, telling my best friends that I am about to get married. Actually, it would be thrilling to share such news with pals, right? But it isn't to me since we three told each other that we would inform each other about the guy we were dating first, and then we would move forward with their unanimous approval; I wanted the same thing, but the circumstances are different. I don't know how they would react. Riddhi I guess will be less furious but still furious, but I think Varsha will blow up as we all together have approved her to continue her love interest with Mahindra. Gathering my courage I messaged in my group chat, Gossips only.
Me: Guys I have something important to say
I am getting engaged next Sunday.
I immediately closed the app, put my phone in the corner of my bed, and went out to help as I couldn't take the tension till they read and replied; why am I behaving as if I had proposed to my crush?
