Dev
As Manasa and I stood greeting guests, I couldn't help but steal glances at her. As I slightly turned to see Manasa for the zillionth time, I saw her pushing the front locks of her hair behind her ear. I didn't know something about the action was adorable. Oh by the way did I say it before? She is looking like a goddess today. As I was shamelessly gazing at my fiancé, she turned looked at me, and smiled sweetly at me. Unable to resist myself, I leaned a little toward her and she suddenly stopped smiling and looked baffled, I could smell her sweet vanilla fragrance
"You look beautiful" I whispered and I found her surprised expression, then I moved back to see her smiling shyly and muttering a small thanks.
After greeting all the guests, the photographer directed us to stand closer together for the photoshoot.
"Perfect," he exclaimed, adjusting the lens of his camera. "Now, let's try another pose." He said as he placed his camera low. Manasa glanced at me.
"Okay," she said softly.
With a deep breath, we posed the classic pose -me standing behind Manasa, my arms wrapped around her waist, and her leaning back into my embrace. It should have been simple, but as I tried to find the right angle, I couldn't help but feel a sense of awkwardness creeping in.
"Um, Dev?" Manasa's voice broke through my thoughts, her tone hesitant. I looked down at her, my heart skipping a beat at the sight of her flushed cheeks and nervous smile.
"Yes?" I replied, trying to keep my own nerves in check. She gestured awkwardly towards my hands, which were hovering uncertainly around her waist.
"I think your hands are, um, a little too low," she said, her cheeks turning an even deeper shade of red.
I felt a rush of embarrassment flooded through me as I realized where my hands had wandered.
"Oh, right," I stammered, quickly readjusting my grip. "Sorry about that."
Manasa giggled softly, her laughter like music to my ears. "It's okay," she reassured me, her eyes sparkling with amusement.
We posed again, this time with my hands placed firmly on her waist – not too high, not too low, just right. As the photographer snapped away, capturing our awkward yet endearing embrace. I swallowed nervously, trying to ignore the pounding of my heart as I pulled her close against me. She leaned back into my embrace, her body fitting perfectly against mine, and I couldn't help but think about how right it felt to hold her in my arms.
"Okay, now, Manasa, I want you to look over your shoulder and gaze up at Dev with a soft smile," the photographer instructed, raising his camera to capture the moment.
Manasa nodded in agreement, her gaze meeting mine with a tenderness. Were my arms wrapped too tightly around her? Was I holding her too close? I couldn't shake the feeling that I was somehow doing it all wrong.
"Um, Manasa, is this okay?" I asked hesitantly, my voice barely above a whisper.
Manasa turned to look at me, her eyes filled with warmth and understanding. "Yes, Dev, it's perfect," she replied softly, her hand reaching up to gently caress my cheek.
Her touch sent a wave of reassurance washing over me, soothing my frazzled nerves and easing the tension in my chest. With a grateful smile, I tightened my embrace, holding her close with a newfound sense of affection. As the photographer snapped away, capturing the tenderness and intimacy of our embrace, I felt a sense of peace settle over me.
The engagement photoshoot continued for another hour, between the shots, Manasa and I shared stolen glances and soft smiles. At the end when the photographer said its done we sighed in relief. Then Mithali Aunty called us for lunch, we began walking towards the buffet room. As we walked silently beside each other, a sense of calmness enveloped us, punctuated only by the soft murmur of conversation around us. During our walk, our hands brushed against each other, sending a jolt of electricity through me. I glanced down to see Manasa's hand lingering next to mine, seemingly waiting for something. Taking a leap of faith, I slowly reached out and gently clasped her hand in mine. To my delight, she didn't pull away. Instead, she tightened her grip, intertwining her fingers with mine, making my heart smile.
