Hi, Lovelies!!
I know it's been long, but I felt that no one is quite interested in the story so far, but then I thought it was okay. I will be writing this for my 3 voters who took out time to read and vote it. Thank you so much, guys! I love you people. And thanks to everyone reading it, and now enough of my bak bak, let's continue!!!
Manasa's POV
"Amma!" I shouted as I looked at the door, expecting my mother to magically appear there.
"Mummy!!!" I shouted exactly after 5 seconds, and then there she was, walking towards me as she glared at me.
"I was just away for 2 minutes!" my mom yelled back, and I pouted.
"But it is getting burned!!" I said as I stirred the curry on the stove.
"It is my mistake, taking this upon me," she said, taking the spatula from me and pushing me aside as she stirred the gravy.
I stood there watching her. I have been learning cooking for the past month and can confidently say I am a decent cook. I have learned all the basic and simple dishes, but today my mom was making chicken biryani and I volunteered to learn by helping her, but I think I messed it up.
I walked out as my mother continued her rant about how I eat her brains off. I sat on the sofa when my phone rang. My face lit up as I looked at the caller-it's Dev.
We have been having continuous calls and video calls in the last month. And I forgot today is Sunday and Dev would be home. I looked down at my dress and hit my head. I was a mess. I immediately got up and rushed to my room to change and pick up his call.
I walked out of my washroom after changing into a blue salwar. I rushed to the mirror and looked at my face-it's good, just the hair. I pulled out the rubber band and let my hair fall free. I adjusted it a little and, getting satisfied, I ran to my bed. Settling on my bed, I video-called Dev.
And after 30 seconds, there he was with a beautiful smile.
Dev's POV
I woke up a little later than usual as it was Sunday, and also because I studied till late last night. As I woke up, I went out for a walk, and also to look for a house. With the wedding getting near, I need to get a house as soon as possible because Mom wants me to shift before the wedding, so there won't be double shifting.
As I roamed around the locality to find a house for rent, I found a few really good houses, but, God, the rent is totally out of my budget.
Finally, feeling the sun right above my head, I thought to continue this in the evening when it cools down.As I sat down on the couch lazily, I called Manasa. She should be waiting for my call.
When I first called her, the call went unanswered. Thinking she might be busy, I kept my phone aside and took out my book to study. As I was about to finish the page, I heard my phone ringing. It's her.
A smile involuntarily came to my face as I saw Manu on my screen.
"Hello," I said as I answered the call.
"Hey," she said with her bright smile. God, how pretty she is. I took in her appearance as she smiled.
She wore a blue kurta, suiting her skin tone, and those new jhumkas again! I observe her every day, and she wears a new set every single day. I can understand her obsession with those, and I remember they are different every day. God knows how I remember every single thing about her, every single thing that comes out of her mouth. I remember everything.
"What are you doing?" I asked her, and her face went down, making me worried.
"What happened?" I immediately asked without waiting for a beat."Nothing, Mumma was making chicken biryani today. I thought I would help her, but I messed up, and she is angry with me now," she said sadly. Aww, my baby.
"Oh, that's okay. Your mumma will be fine in some time," I said, trying to make her feel better.
"I am not sad about that! Mumma is always angry with me," she replied cutely.
"Then?" I asked her. She is not worried about her mumma?
"I thought I would learn it and cook for you, but Mumma says it's impossible for me as I don't have that much patience," she said as she pouted, making me feel warm with her first sentence.
"It's okay, Manu. You can learn it slowly. Or else, what is the need for that? Here we have a very famous place for biryani. You will go mad if you have that," I said.
Manasa's POV
"But I want to cook for you, Dev. I want to make something special," I said, still upset about not being able to succeed in making something he loves.
"You will, Manu. And it will be perfect because you made it with love," Dev said as he smiled warmly. I blushed at his words, feeling a rush of affection.
"You always know how to make me feel better," I said as I looked at him, still with my pink cheeks.
"It's my job," he said, his eyes twinkling. Such a flirt he is.
"So, what else have you been up to today?"
"Well," I began, thinking about the rest of my day. "I went to the tailor today to give the measurements to stitch my wedding outfit. It was a big task. She kept on giving me unnecessary suggestions even after I had clearly shown her the picture of what I wanted. She was really annoying, but my mother always goes to her. And she refused to stitch the back of my blouse a little lower."
"Sounds like quite an ordeal," he chuckled.
"It was! I just want everything to be perfect," I said. I really want it to be perfect, just how I picturized it to be.
"I know you do, and it will be," he assured me in his smooth voice.
"So, did you get the measurements sorted out in the end?"
"Yes, finally," I said with a sigh of relief.
"But I had to compromise a bit as my mother also started saying the same. And then the tailor insisted on adding her own 'special touch,' which I couldn't argue against anymore." And I heard him laugh. Such a beautiful sound to hear.
"I'm sure it will look beautiful, Manu." he said, making me blush.
"What about you? Did you find any good houses today?" I asked him. He has been looking for one for us.
"Well, I found a few," he said, scratching his head.
"But the rent is way out of my budget. I might have to keep looking."
"It's okay, we will find one," I said, and he nodded. Should I talk to Papa about it? Maybe he can help.
We continued talking about his office and later about my college. It felt nice to know every single detail about our lives. As the conversation flowed, I realized how much I valued these moments with him, and how they made the distance between us seem smaller.
"Dev," I said after a while,
"I can't wait for us to be together."
"Me too, Manu," he replied softly.
Just then, my mom called from the kitchen. "Manasa, can you come here for a moment?"
"I have to go," I said, feeling a bit reluctant to end the call. "Mom needs me."
"Alright," Dev said, smiling. "Go be the good daughter. And don't worry about the biryani. You'll get it right next time."
"Okay, Devuuu. Bye," I said, making him smile and blush. He blushes every single time I call him Devu.
"Take care, Manu."I ended the call with a smile, feeling a warm glow from our conversation.
How is it??? Waiting for your opinion on todays update
Bye!!!
