As the palanquin stood at a halt, the new brides stepped down.
Their mothers-in-law were waiting at the main palace doors, with plates and offerings in their hands, ready to welcome them.
Queen Kaushalya stepped forward first, and walked towards Sita. She gave Her a warm hug, before proceeding to apply vermillion on Her forehead.
"Welcome to Ayodhya, I hope You feel like home here."
Home is where the heart is. And My heart resides with the Prince. Even if this place may not feel like My birthplace to Me, I shall fully try My best to create a loving environment here.
Sita bent and touched Her feet for blessings. She slowly lifted Her eyes and looked around.
It was only then that She realised that the palace was flooded with visitors. Even the common people had gathered to welcome the newly weds. She was happy to see that even the masses were treated like family and given a chance to become a part of Their royal and private affairs.
"The people of Ayodhya have always been My second family. To be a just King, means to make sure that everyone feels safe in the kingdom and the King should always have approachable behaviour."
Rama cited to Her, understanding the thrill in Her eyes. She may have never seen such a huge crowd before in Her life. Surely, Ayodhya was a much bigger kingdom than Videha.
After the welcome ceremony, Rama suggested that They walk around and seek the blessings of the elders in the crowd too. Blessings are very auspicious for any new beginning.
Sita was so touched even by His soft gestures; He had the ability to make anyone feel at home. Surely, She would not miss Her home that much here.
They walked around, with folded hands, seeking blessings and expressing gratitude. Rama personally spoke to each one of them, and was very eager to know them all un person, as if they were His own family members.
And likewise, all the people cherished and adored Him like Their own son. They hugged Him, gifted Him some items, handicrafts and flowers, and He gracefully accepted them all and collected them.
They literally looked up to Him with so much awe and admiration in Their eyes, as if He was Their God.
Sita observed everything, and She could not take Her eyes off Rama.
Surely, this is why He is so revered in all the other kingdoms. This is why He is Rama, and that is why people consider Him as Divine.
She was determined that no matter what, She would always stand by His side, and try Her best to maintain His dignity and divine demeanour.
Very soon, it was lunchtime and the newlyweds were called back into the palace.

Since it was the first day of Their arrival, the brides were excused from cooking for their first kitchen experience.
