I walked downstairs and saw Ginny staring at our mom making a cake. I was a
little shocked when I keep forgetting she straightened her hair. She used
straightneing iron from when I wanted to give myself my own silk press.
I walked into the kitchen and sat in the barstool on the other side of our mother carefully decorating a cake.
"Your hair! It's straight," she seemed shocked as much as Ginny loved her curls was surprised she did this.
"I wanted a change," She wants to change to fit in. That what she wants. "New, older me," Oh please. She aint changed not one bit.
"But I love your natural hair," Mom told her, "Aww, then you wear it," Ginny has been extra bitchy since Maddie and Caleb were kicked out. I am a bit upset Austin can't spend time with Caleb anymore but Maddie couldn't quite care less.
Mom had lit the two candles she stuck on the cake with a sigh.
"Happy Birthday to you, Happy birthday to you," as she placed the cake between me and my ungrateful sister.
"It's 7:00 am. I don't really want cake," "I do," I looked at the cake then smiled to my mom.
"Happy Birthday dear Ginny and Y/N," she kept going.
"Must you sing the whole song," she complained.
"Yeah," she nodded, "Happy Birthday to you.
We blew out the candles and I looked at my mom then Ginny and my face fell. It's your birthday be happy for once.
"This came from Zions parents," she handed us our envelopes. "You opened it," she stated. I didn't care I just got 500 dollars.
"They sent 500," she told her licking icing off her fingers.
Austin came running downstairs with two birthday cards. "Happ BIrthday Y/N and Ginny,"
"Aww. Thanks, Austin!" we hugged him and opened and read our cards.
"Cake!"
"Cake!"
"Go brush your teeth," She told him when she ran back upstairs, "Sixteen. Adults. Little Women. My Little Women," She looked at us.
"Louisa May Alcott's all atingle,"
"Y'all really are growing up,"
"That mean you'll treat me like a grown-up?" She asked her, "I want these last two years as a kid. Don't know what you on about?" I looked at Ginny, "Trust me with the important factors of your life, like, I don't know, off the cuff, the fact that you have a sister and your real name is Mary," Mom leaned from off the counter and stood up smirking.
"Happy sweet sixteen, jerk," she rubbed the cake all in her face. Seeing Ginny like this made up for not being able to eat it.
The doorbell rang and mom went to open it. "Girls, it's for you," She yelled back to us.
My dad had actually gotten me a fucking PlayStation and he got Ginny a keyboard. I was going to figure out how to set it up later because it looked like a lot. I called him when I got it and thanked him so much.
I walked over to Ginny's room when I heard her playing a song on the keyboard.
"I still remember it," Ginny was all smiley.
"You think this is good, wait till you see what I got planned for tomorrow," She told us.
"Oh God. What does that mean?" She asked her looking terrified.
