*At School*

I talked to Abby by her locker trying to figure out ways to distract ourselves from all the shit going on. Then I saw my sister walking through the hall like she did every other school. Hoodie up, avoid eye contact and become invisible until we move again.

I saw her walk into Gitten's room, voluntarily, that's either very good or very bad.

"Hey, Y/N. You still with me?" She realized I had zoned out

"Uh, yeah, what were we talking about again?" I asked her.

"All the places you can drive me after you get you get your driver's license today, and can drive anywhere you want," She said like this has been known for years.

"Road trip?" I put it out there, somewhat seriously.

"Definitely," She agreed with me.

*Lunch*

I was sitting across from Abby with our trays on the table. Abby hasn't eaten much of anything since last night.

"Abby you have to eat something," I told her sounding like a mom.

"I'll be fi..." She started to drag out the last word as she glanced behind me. It was sister looking for a place to sit. Abby grabbed her tray and stood up as did I. We threw out our food exiting the cafeteria.

I always just stash snacks in my locker so I'll just make Abby eat that.

*At Home*

I opened the door to see if the mail had arrived and there was nothing on the counter.

I went upstairs to my room to change clothes and just do homework or something. I put on sweatpants and a spaghetti string top and went to sit at my desk and saw it. The envelope that holds my freedom.

I opened it up and saw it. My picture was cute. It was kind of unreal and pulled out my phone. The first person I wanted to call was Marcus. Then I realized we weren't on speaking terms.

I wasn't going to let his dumbass actions influence this moment so I Facetimed Abby.

"Did you get it?" That was the first thing she said when she answered the phone.

I was too happy to speak so I just nodded my head. And showed it to her. She started freaking out with me. Then I heard my sister walk into the house calling out to see if anyone was home so we hung up. I put my license in the back of my phone where all my cards are.

"Is anyone home?" I heard her ask as I walked down the steps and this was the first time I had seen her,  just by myself. But not for very long because Mom had walked downstairs.

"Girls," she called for us, "How do I look?" She asked as she came down in a white pantsuit. She looked nice.

"I'm not ignoring our conversation from yesterday, but I wanna put it aside for tonight. Tonight, we're a family. A family about to win a mayoral election. Imagine me saying that a year ago, huh?" She seemed more surprised at herself than she expected us to be.

"It's unbelievable," Ginny said to her, i knew exactly what she meant.

"It's all working out. Things are good. It's all going to be ok. I know it," She was pumping herself up for this, "Are we good?" She asked in our direction looking between us.

"Can I count on you girls and Austin to come tonight? The results are at nine," She asked us.

"We'll be there," I told her. I didn't want to go but, it's important and I want to drive.

She hugged us before grabbing her stuff. "We did it. I love you, peaches," She said before she walked out the door.

Then Ginny looked at me. "We need to talk," I've heard this too much since we came here.
