Adjusting her saree a bit on her legs he moved towards the kitchen to make some snacks for them.

It was a pleasant evening and he was thinking of surprising his wife with sandwiches.

He heard some sweet noises from his room that told him that his wife had awakened.

Smiling to himself, he quickly platted them and went towards his room.

She was tying her hair in a messy bun.  Her hands reached up to the back of her head, her waist visible with her movement. Samridh couldn't help but trace back to a few minutes before when he was holding her soft waist.

His fingers still had that lingering feeling. The same electrocuting feeling passed in his body again. He desperately wanted to do something about it.

How effortlessly was his wife affecting him?

Clearing his throat, "I have got us Evening Snacks. " He said with a gentle smile, moving towards the balcony.

She passed him an equally sweet smile and joined him after getting freshened up.

Ruchi was quietly enjoying her food and the weather.

And Samridh was stealing glances at her. He wasn't sure how was he supposed to be a good husband.

How they were going to fit in the relationship. How was everything going to be with her?

He was in deep thinking when Ruchi decided to break his trance.

" What happened? "

Samridh instantly looked at her, "Nothing" he said shaking his head.

Ruchi nodded at him and leaned on the balcony wall to look around.

Minutes later, she found him standing beside her.

"I don't know how I am supposed to be with you" She turned around hearing him and glanced at his apprehensive form which was scratching the back of his neck.

" Just like this, sharing your worries, your happiness, and time with me" She smiled at him before continuing, "Don't worry I am as new as you are in this "

He reciprocated her polite smile, "I want to be a good husband to you "

"And I want to be a good wife to you"  Her heart fluttered at the charming smile he gave her. He looked like a small child and she wanted to ruffle his hair.

"Why did you marry me?" She was taken aback by the sudden question.

"25 is kind of marriagable age I guess" She replied unsure making him chuckle.

"No I mean, why did you marry me? You could have married anyone of your standard" She could feel the insecurity in his voice.

"And how do you define my standard? "

He licked his dry lips, thinking of an answer. He was not getting the right words to form a sentence. He didn't want to make her uncomfortable on the first day itself.
"I...I " He tried but nothing came of his mouth.

Ruchi kept gazing at him waiting for an answer when he couldn't come up with one she vaguely understood his dilemma.

"I had always thought that I would marry the person my parents find me " She found him looking at her confused.

Looking at him, she was afraid - what if he found her old-fashioned? She remembered once somebody asked about the marriage and stuff and she replied something similar. They cringed at her reply. Minutes later she found herself under the scrutiny of her friends who went on to call her "Old -Fashioned", "Pick -me girl", And "too orthodox". They advised her to find a groom herself and not let her parents rule her life.

At that time she was naive, just in the second year of college, and didn't know how to explain herself. She was embarrassed by her thought process but as soon as she went on with her life, she realized she was free to make any decision in her life that she found good for her well-being and for that, she doesn't have to explain it to anyone.

But now her heart was beating insanely what if he thinks the same? She desperately felt the need to explain herself to him. She didn't want him to think wrong of her, "I mean I never developed feelings for anyone. I just left it on my parents. And it was not like I didn't have a say. I married you by choice. I knew Papa would always choose the best for me."

"It's surprising" He looked at her as if she was a far dream.

Her heart started chasing her dread, and only a mere whisper came out of his mouth, "What? "

"That you had a bunch of stupids in your batch who didn't try to impress you to their full capabilities." She looked at him carefully and found amusement dancing on his face.

He also had a teasing smile on his face and wait...

Was he like trying to flirt with her?

"Also I never knew I was the best "His chest puffed up involuntarily.

Ruchi couldn't help but shake her head at him, out of everything he chose to hear the line of his convenience.

Her lips curved into a shy smile the moment she realized what she blabbered.

"So beautiful" She was pretty sure that she heard it as a whisper but didn't dare to look at him. Her eyes were cast down in shyness. And lips curved more as her cheeks heated up.

He stood there admiring the beauty. He couldn't get over the fact that she was his wife. She was going to live with him in his home, in his room. Now hers too.

His heart fluttered at the thought.  His admirable gaze was interrupted as soon as her phone rang. And she moved inside their room to pick up the call.
