It was the morning of their release. Two years felt like it had dragged on to 20 for the twins, and they couldn't wait to spring free. Although both of them struggled to catch any sort of decent sleep, they managed to get in a couple of broken hours each. The reasoning behind their patchy winks was blamed mainly on excitement to yet again join the outside world, however the reality was they were nervous to experience the world now that they were hated. Minus the crazy fans that sent them letters.

The two of them were woken around 6am to be processed in order to discourage any communication or passing comments from other inmates as it was before morning unlocking of their cells. Though, despite this effort, some inmates were awake and heard the familiar jingles of the officer's keys and thumb-cuffs. Their belongings went ahead of the siblings, and then they were cuffed and walked through. Veneer took one final look at the tiny, damp cell they had shared for those many months, Velvet did not look back and kept her head held high.

"Hey! Write to us from the outside world will ya'? Ya' lucky bastards!" An inmate they both had gotten to know exclaimed, leaning against the bars, he was looking out over the balcony and down at the ground floor where they were walking. As soon as he commented, others joined in as they took notice and started a small ruckus as some had just woken up.

"Don't worry, we will! We won't forget you!" Veneer proclaimed back with some enthusiasm. Velvet just turned her head to look at him with a cocked brow. Veneer shrugged and shook his head, lowering his lids. "Oh I will."

Velvet was practically jumping for joy as they approached the long hallway that led to the lift that was heavily guarded. Before they went through, she spun her entire body around and flipped the block off, yelling, "See you never losers! I'm outta' here!"

Once up the lift and back through the many maze like gated halls, they arrived back at where they started. They were reminded again of their responsibilities and conditions of their bail, to which they both groaned immaturely and rolled their eyes at the tasks. Each was uncuffed and handed a simple black t-shirt and a pair of grey joggers to change into. They were handed their belongings in a cardboard box and sent packing without another word.

Inside the box were their prison trinkets and fanmail, and what was returned to them was a few of the items they had on them the night of their arrest. Including; boots, jewellery (minus their gold collars), Veneer's trousers, and their seemingly long dead phones. It was explained to them long ago that their rage dome outfits had been permanently confiscated to not only be used as evidence in their cases, but also due to the fact they were seen as incredibly dangerous technology.

The double doors leading up to the outside were so daunting. Velvet could have ran down that hallway, leaving her brother behind, but she intended to saver every last moment behind them as she knew the feeling of pushing through them after months of anticipation would feel amazing. They stopped just before they reached the end, looked at each other with a confident smile, and pushed a door each open in unison. The light was blinding.

There they were, the smell of the cold morning mountain air filled their lungs with a freshness they hadn't felt inside them since they were racing along the highways of downtown Mt. Rageous. Even from this low level of the city, it was a sight to behold, in the distance they could see the bright neon lights and thunderous colours exploding from miles up, even this early. And yet it was so peaceful. They walked out and Velvet punched Veneer's arm suddenly causing him to drop the box he was carrying for both of them.

"Tag you're it!" She teased and ran off ahead of him, running towards the one red road that curled down to the station's level. Veneer snickered and quickly picked the box up to chase after her. Once he caught up he thought it was a good idea to throw it at her. She tripped upon impact and twisted her back in order to plant her hand on the floor as to not fall flat.
