light-years

the horizon has kept us
with every turn from the sun,
neither too far
a distance
from each one.

stringing us like threads,
clouds feather-like wispy,
it pulls us both
in an electric dance
with gravity.

bounded from the start
painted with kataware-doki,
we share the same
purple-blues, falling comets,
and the universe's quiet melodies.

it spills into the expanse
of an inky night sky,
one i look up to from the terrace
knowing you see
the same twinkling lights.

i reach to the heavens,
like you're at my fingertips.
a breath away —
the short distance
between our lips.

it comforts me to know
that we share this same galaxy,
one moon that makes you
light-years
closer to me.
