You text Torin and attempt to get him to meet you at the station, and he finally agrees. You wait outside for him, even though it started to rain. In your waiting process, you call your mom to tell her you're alive and fine, and also that you'll be home later than expected.
You hear a faint meow behind you and you turn around to see "Ruby" right behind you, trying to hide from the rain. Your expression softens as you look at her, stepping closer. You squat in front of her, hoping she doesn't run away. "Ruby" just stays where she is, rubbing into your knee and meowing here and there.
"Hey Ruby," You pet her soft fur, hearing her pur in response. You receive a new text from Torin.
'I told you Y/N, I'm busy. I can't make it. Just meet up with me tomorrow as I asked. Please.' You text an agreement and go back inside, leaving Ruby in the shadows. Alex greets you with a small wave.
"Welcome back, Y/N. Did he come?"
"No. He has work tonight." You put your phone back in its pocket.
"So you stayed out in the rain for nothing?" He leaned against the wall.
"Rain is calming. I needed a break from stress." You sigh, as it was true. All this trauma was too stressful.
He chuckles softly. "I feel that." He has a small smile on his face.
"I'm gonna head out, I need some sleep for once-" You put on your rain-soaked jacket once more and start to walk out, hoping you didn't forget anything.
"Alright. Sleep well and stay safe!" He waves and goes back to his office, closing the door. Minoe was already gone when you got to the station's main lobby earlier, so she must've gone home. You walk out and look around, in the dark. The rain that spilled onto the streets and sidewalks almost looked majestic in the dim lighting of a broken street light, but also creepy. You safely make it home and call the day quits. You walk through the door and lock it behind you. Your mother was asleep on the couch, so you went to the bathroom as quietly as possible. You wrung out your soaked jacket in the sink and hung it on the door to dry up. You go to your room, put on extremely comfy pajamas and practically fall into bed.
