I started with my work again. "By the way, do you have a name?"
"Name?", he asked as if it was a foreign concept to him.
"Something I can referr to you as.", I explained to him. "There must be some- thing I can call you, right?"
Still no answer. I cho- se to lead by example: "I'm Andi." - "Andi..."
"Yes, that's what you can call me."
He looked thoughtfull for a second then spoke: "I'm... William.""That's a nice Name."
To be honest, I didn't expect such a normal name. Did he come up with it just then?
Well it really didn't matter too much weather or not that name was his real name. It was a name.I continued working, making smalltalk: "I actually live nearby. I'm building a city on the surface above this cave."
William had stood up again and was now eagerly watching my work. Happy to know that he will see the surface again soon.
He got very close, too close. So I stopped and adressed him:
"Sorry but I need you to stay back a little. I need to be able to look up to mine this stone. And well... I dont wanna accidentally set you off when you are this close to me. Or hit you with the pickaxe."He understood.
He backed away, further down into the tunnel behind me and I continued."Can I live with you?"
