Millions of eyes watching every slight movement, the heat of thousands of bright lights drenching you in sweat. Ankles sore, knees weakening and fuzzy from landing hard, dozens of times. Cut elbows, knees, palms scraped and covered in your own blood. The board gripping your shoe as you get ready for the pop. You slam down the tail, flick your foot, and lock in the trucks to the rail. Then brace for the landing.
"Welcome back everyone to the Street League Supercrown Men's Finals, I'm your host Sal Masekela! We are about to watch Skateboarding's newest child prodigy go on his final run. He's currently in Second Place right behind our leader P-Rod. Why don't you tell us a little more about the Prodigy, Tony."
"Kasey 'The Prodigy' Morgan, just fourteen years old, our youngest competitor that has a great chance at winning the 250,000 grand prize and become our 2021 Supercrown Champion. Kasey received his first skateboard on his twelfth birthday. And for the next two years, he spent every second on the board, like it was a match made in heaven. He racked up sponsors, traveled the globe winning event after event! Now he's fourteen and about to try and win the biggest event in his young life so far. If he can pass P-Rods score of 93.2. The Kasey will win."
"It looks like Kasey Morgan is eyeing up the deadly looking 12 step with a near vertical flat bar handrail, not many of the Veterans even tried to get near. Most only jumped down the steps. But earlier today, I saw Kasey sizing up the railing, and do a few run ups to measure for the right speed. I'm excited to see what the young prodigy has in store to try and win the Supercrown today."
"Oh here he goes! Looks like he's setting up for a Switch Backside flip to Crook!"
"He's going to fast."
"Oh no—"
"Mom! He's watching it again!" Sarah cried out.
"Shut your trap Bean!" I nudged her shoulder.
"Kasey don't nudge your sister, and stop watching that video!" Mom yelled from the front seat of the car. "That's it, you're going to therapy."
"Therapy! Therapy!" Sarah chanted.
"No! I'm not going to therapy!" I cried, and closed my phone. I slumped down into the backseat of the rental van in protest.
Sarah blew a raspberry at me from her side of the van. I snatched one of her peanut M&M's in retaliation.
"Mom! He took one of my M&M's!" Sarah screamed loudly.
"Kasey!" Mom crooned. "Please we're almost there! Just be quiet you two before I throw my self into traffic!"
"Here that Bean?" I looked to Sarah. "Mom's jumping into traffic because of you!"
"Mom!"
"Kasey! Dean do something about your son!"
"I seem to remember it was a team effort—"
"Gross!" Sarah and I said together.
"Look, we're here everyone get out!" Mom said tiredly.
Dad stopped the van out front of our new house. It's a fairly big house, mainly gray and two stories. The biggest thing about the house is, it's practically on the beach.
"No way!" Sarah jumped out of the car. "Our house is on the beach!" Sarah ran from the house, across the small turn off street and jumped over a small wooden fence into the sand.
"Sarah can you please not drag sand into our new house before we can even settle?" Mom said, stretching her body then giving Dad a kiss.
"Sarah, remind us of the address please," Dad said.
