I fell to the hard ground, body drenched in sweat. My knees were weak and shaking, my chest heaving for air, sucking it down. Ankle swollen, and my hands scrapped and bloody.
"Are you ok?" Sadie asked me.
"I see...the...light..." I gasped.
"That's the sun moron," she laughed.
"Kasey are you ok!?" Sarah ran up.
"I can't...I'm dying..." I said.
Sarah giggled and jumped into an atomic butt slam right on my stomach, squeezing any air left inside of me out. Sadie pulled her off as I died.
"Come on, I need to practice for the match," Sarah said. "Quit being dramatic and pick up your racket." She lifted up my shoulders and pushed me up, and sat me up. She rounded infront of me, with an annoyed face.
"Bean...you don't even... have sweat on your skin..." I panted, as I could feel every fast beat of my heart, throughout my entire body. It was so loud, people in the next court over started to look for the Jumanji board.
"You haven't done anything to make me sweat. Get up fatty!" Sarah stomped her foot and started pulling me up by the hand.
"Yeah get up fatty!" Sadie joined in, grabbing the other hand. They both struggled to lift me to my feet. As soon as my I leveled on my feet, my dogs were not barking...they were screaming.
"What's the score?" I asked, already knowing the outcome.
"6-0 6-0 5-0. I have 35 and you have—"
"Zero...yeah I know," I said. "Wouldn't you have more of a workout if you trained with... I don't know. A real tennis player!"
"Yeah," Sarah said as she picked up her racket. "But they are not you."
"Awe..." Sadie gushed.
"Sadie Mr. Cruise needs a caddie!"
"Shit... I have to go," Sadie kissed my cheek, and ran off in her white work outfit.
"Alright Bean..." I said bouncing the little vibrant green tennis ball off the blue court. "You sure you want to keep practicing? You just won your tournament about an hour ago."
"Yeah, come on serve fatty!"
"Jesus... alright you little shit. Here comes the heat, I hope your ready for it!"
I tossed up the ball, and hit it as hard as I possible could. It sailed over the next and bounced on Sarah's side. She returned it like I underhand tossed it to her, and it blazed right past me before I could even react.
"40 – Love," Sarah smiled.
"Love you too," I said.
"You don't have to keep saying that every time it's love... it's every point for you," Sarah said.
"I'm not saying it. It's to remind myself that I love you... and stop me from ringing your neck," I smiled.
"Oh ok!" Sarah smiled.
I got the ball and served it again. The ball hit the fence behind me a second later.
"Game Set Match, Sarah Morgan," Sarah smiled and posed cutely.
