The weekend came up faster than normal, now the days seemed to skate by. No pun intended. After the last bell, I would find Sadie out front, then we'd hop in Scooter's van and go to Shredder's every day after school.

It was the best week of my life in a long time, until it wasn't. A thunderstorm came on Friday. And I had one of the worst migraines I've ever had, mom was tempted to take me to the E.R. But with Dad's help, he managed to talk her out of it for me.

Sarah had to stay home, she had caught the flu, and couldn't come sleep with me in bed. It didn't stop her from trying though, it got so bad, Mom had to stand guard outside of my room like a Queens Guard. Minus the fuzzy hat.

My phone dinged, and my head throbbed. I wasn't used to getting text messages, so I never had to lower the volume when I had one of my migraines. I quickly turned my phones volume down, to the lowest setting that wasn't silent. Just loud enough to make you think you heard it beep, like on one of those hearing tests they make you do at school.

I read the name of the person who texted me, it was Sadie. I opened my phone without thinking and was met with a blinding home screen that actually made me groan in physical pain. Mom came in quickly and softly asked what had happened.

"Lower...brightness..." I groaned, and pointed a weak finger to the 1 million lumen brightness screen. Mom quickly lowered the brightness to the darkest setting, and put it into my weak and open palm. She left quickly after that, after she heard a sniff from the hallway.

"That damn girl..." Mom said under her breath.

The door clicked behind her, and I looked to my phone, which was still bright enough to make me wince.

Sadie: Hey babe! Why ru not in school?

Sadie: Earth to Kasey?

Sadie: Yo dude? Are you dead? Do I need to buy a black dress?

Kasey: Sry...have bad migraine...rain...thunder... pain...head...bed...

Sadie: What?!

Kasey: No school today... can't walk... bright hurt.

The chat bubbles for Sadie appeared a few times, but she never hit reply. I closed my phone figuring she got in trouble for having her phone out or something. I managed to get some sleep after that.

Until I heard my door click open, "See he's in bed." Sarah whispered. "He get's weawy bad my—gwains. On wainy days, sounds and bwight things hut his head. I like to cuddoh him when he's wike this, I just say I'm scawed of the thundew when I'm weawy not. He sweeps bettuh when I stay with him, and he always wakes up bettuh." her nose stuffed full of mucus.

That little shit...

"I want to help him... but mom won't wet me cause... I have the floo," Sarah said.

"You love him a lot don't you?" a soft voice said.

"Yes I do...he's my best fwiend," Sarah said. "Do you wove him?"

"Um..." the soft voice said. "I do... I weawy wove him."

"Then... can you hewp make him bettuh?" Sarah asked.

"...yeah... I can try... I don't know if I'll be as good as you though," the voice said.

"Sarah Morgan you best not be by that door!" Mom yelled from down the house.
