Sadie brought me to the lower level of Shredder's SK8 shop. Where an inside skate park resides. She pulled me down the stairs, into a pitch black room.
"You're...not going to kill me, right?" I asked.
"No..." Sadie said suspiciously. Then she chuckled and flipped a light switch.
It was a large room, kinda like a parking garage. But one level, and no garage doors or parking spots. Professionally made wood ramps were scattered around in a way where you can do lines with every ramp involved. Flatbars, manny pads, a few kickers. A fun box with a stair set and hand rail, and a gap over fake grass. A large mini ramp tucked against the back corner closer to the stairs. And a lounge area with a sunken in leather couch and a few folding chairs.
"Cool right," Sadie smiled. She set her board down, and looked at me. "Do you want to try?"
"I want to watch you," I smiled. I went over to grab a seat, while Sadie stood on her board. She smiled and waved at me, I waved back. Then she pushed off.
She picked up speed, and went up the fun box, and came down the other side. She rode up next to a rail, popped her tail, and 50-50'd across it, landing easily. She rode around, and angles again for a kicker that launched to flat. It was a small thing, couldn't get more than a foot or two in the air, unless you popped hard.
She hit the ramp, and popped. Her foot flicked, and she tre flipped off the kicker, landing bolts.
"Nice one babe!" I cheered. She blushed and waved at me.
"Look at the cheerleader," Cody said, walking down into the skatepark with everyone else.
"She's pretty good," I said with a smile. "Great control, her flicking and foot placement is near perfect. Great height on her pops, and she completely locked in on that 50. I can already tell, she's really good."
"Pssh!" Cody scoffed. "You think she's good just because she did a 50-50 and a tre flip? You must be new at skating."
"Actually—" Saide rode up filled with anger. But I waved her off.
"You're right, you could say I'm pretty new at skating," I said. The others came and sat down in the seats near me. Even Shredder came, and sat on a folding chair. "I heard skater's like to pass time with games of... what is it called? Skate? Like horse but—"
"I know what a game of Skate is," Cody said rudely.
"Oh ok," I smiled. "Wanna have a game?"
"With you?" Cody said with a smirk.
"With you?!" Sadie said with a shocked face. "Kasey... are you sure? You haven't been—"
"—On a board, ever, I know," I said standing up. "Mide if I use your board, Sadie?"
"Uh...sure," She said, and rolled her board over to me. I stopped it with my foot, placing it gently on top.
Flashes of the handrail that nearly killed me, came into my mind again. But I pushed them out, and replaced them with thoughts of Sadie.
I stepped on the board with two feet. I shook a bit, and wobbled trying to keep my balance. "Woah... this is kinda scary," I said.
"Are you ok?" Sadie asked. "You don't have to do this."
