As I opened my eyes I groaned at the pain that was piercing through my body. And the white walls and bright lights weren't helping my headache. I closed my eyes then opened them again as I finally adjusted to the light and looked around the room and saw ballons, flowers and cards sitting on the night stand. My parents were sitting on the couch.
"Mami" I tried to say but it came out in a whisper.
"Mami" I tried again and this time she heard me, getting up and coming to my side.
"You're awake! Lance go get the doctors" my father raced out the room.
"Hey baby, how you feeling?" she asked rubbing my hair.
"Like shit" we chuckled as the doctor came in with two other nurses following behind him.
"Hello Miss Taylor, I'm Dr. Washington. How are you feeling?" he asked as he flashed a light in my eye and the nurses started checking me.
"I've been better."
"Well you suffered from a concussion, you broke your leg in several places and bruised your ribs and had internal bleeding. We had to rush you into emergency surgery, you were losing a good amount of blood. You are a very lucky person."
I closed my eyes, hearing all of that was giving me more of a headache.
"When can I go home?" I didn't want anything to do with this hospital.
"Well we want to keep you for observations to make sure everything checks out alright."
Before I could say anything the door to my room opened and in walked Omari. He looked over at me and looked surprised.
"You're up?"
"Yea" I smiled at him as he walked over to me and grabbing my hand.
"We will be back in a couple of hours to check up on you again and give you some medicine for the pain. Get some rest" Dr. Washington said leaving out with the nurses.
"You scared the shit out of me Niyah" Mari said rubbing the top of my hand with his thumb.
"Sorry"
"As long as your ok, that's all that matters."
"Thank you" I said looking up at him.
"For what?" he furrowed his eyebrows.
"Saving me, if you didn't get me here I probably would be dead right now."
"LaNiyah" my mother said crying as my father wrapped his arms around her and pulling her into his chest.
"Don't talk like that Niyah" Mari said."What matters is that you're alive now, okay?"
"Yeah, I guess."
"Mami, I'm sorry" I said and she gave me a small smile.
"The girls were here earlier, they said they would come back in the morning" I nodded my head.
We all sat in a comfortable silence and watched TV for about a hour. I looked over to the door as Mac walked in.
"Nana" Mac said as he ran over to my bed and kissed my forehead. Mari got up and sat on the couch next to my parents and Mac took his place beside my bed.
"Hi Mac" I half smiled.
"You know you scared us right?"
"Yea I know, sorry"
"Don't do no shit like that again."
"I won't."
"Why is he here?" I scoffed as Killa walked in.
