"Hey Baby girl. How you feeling today?" My father asked as I sat on my bed scrolling through Instagram.
I've been home from the hospital for a month now. My stitches from surgery are out, and my wrist healed, but I still have the cast on my leg. I have to be on crutches for another 2-3 weeks. The first couple of weeks my ribs were killing me, but now it's here and there but as long as I take my meds I'm alright.
"I'm alright, I guess" I sighed.
"That sigh says otherwise"
I tossed him my phone. He picked it up and then looked at me with a sad face.
"Ahh, I'm sorry Baby girl."
It was a pic of a flyer for the show I was supposed to be dancing in tonight. I've seeing them for the past few weeks and hearing Mari and the girls talk about and now the night is finally here. It was frustrating. Since I couldn't dance I had the girls or Mari bring me with them to rehearsals. I wanted to help out any way I could. It made me still feel apart of everything.
"Once you fully heal you'll be back to dancing. It'll get better soon"
"I know Daddy but it sucks. I had four dances I was apart of and that was big! That is supposed to be me up there dancing and now I can't do shit!" I fell back on my pillow and flinched. I forgot my ribs are still sensitive.
My father gave me a look cause I cussed.
"Sorry Daddy"
"Ay, sit up" I did as I was told and picked at my nails, which reminded me I needed to get them done.
"Look at me, I know this means a lot to you but what's done is done. I know that's not what you want to hear but there will be other ones and I know you'll do great like any other time. This is only one. It'll be alright, I promise."
"But what if it won't be alright. What if I can't dance any more" that was my biggest fear, that the doctor would tell me that I couldn't dance again.
"Stop it. Stop thinking negative. Once the cast comes off, we'll get you the best PT to help you recover properly. You hear me?"
"Yeah" I mumbled.
"That's better, now smile and give me a hug" he smiled at me causing me to smile too. I love my Daddy.
"That's my girl" he gave me a big bear hug and kissed my forehead.
"Now come and take a ride with your old man"
"I don't have anything else to do until 4 so why not"
I scooted to the edge of my bed and slipped my foot in my sandal. I grabbed my phone and put it in my pocket while my father stood up and handed me my crutches and we were on our way.
We were out for a few hours running errands. We even stopped by my Nene's house for a few. I haven't seen her in a few weeks so I was glad we went by there. Of course she got on me about not talking to Cam but whatever.
"You hungry?"
"See that's why I love you so much Daddy! You get me!" we laughed.
"Yeah whatever, where you wanna eat at?
"Cheesecake Factory" he nodded his head agreeing.
Once we got there we were seated and had put in our orders. I ordered my usual buffalo wings and a side of fires. I love me some buffalo wings.
"So are you going to the show tonight?"
"Yeah, I wouldn't miss it for the world. Even though I can't dance in the show, I want to see how it turns out and show my support cause they put in a lot of work and effort. Especially Mari, Tasia and Nay. This was our project so a lot of the choreography and set was on us."
