6. Given Opportunities

Chapter 6.

Narrative

A little time skip because I want them to know each other more but I'm too lazy😋

December 16th, 2022; Iowa City; Iowa

Olivia's Pov;

Currently I'm in my marketing class, working on an assignment which is to create some advertising for a fake company that we make. Thank God it's an easy day since it was finals week and all my classes I had finals, thankfully this class we did it on the first day.

It's only a couple of minutes till I go to my next class so I begin putting away my laptop, notebook and pouch into my backpack. Stepping down the steps carefully, my professor calls out my name.

I walk over to her desk, feeling nervous because I rarely get called. Not that I think I did anything bad, hopefully. Just that I don't like being pulled to the side by teachers.

"Yes, Mrs. Lanza?" She sets down her glasses, placing them near her lap top.

"I just wanted to let you know that an opportunity came up. This opportunity that was presented allowed me to choose a student from any class and I chose you. Basically what this is, is a job in marketing. You'll be apart of the social media team and market for the Women's Basketball team for our school in which I know your friend Andrew also does. Will you like to take this opportunity? You have a week to decide if you are still hesitant." She says calmly and I'm legit losing my mind. Holy crap, this could mean I could see Kate more and the girls as well.

"Yes! I'd really like to take this chance, if I accept do you know when I'll be starting or what I'll be doing?" Just then she opens a file on her laptop and then shows it to me and it seems like some overview.

"You'll be like Andrew. Photographing and managing accounts that spreads information about game and such things." She explains to me, as I continue reading the overview which sounds pretty clear and organized to me.

"Yea, yea I'll do it. When do I start?"

"My guess is by tomorrow but let me go ahead and call them just to make sure since you've already agreed with it." I just nod my head as I stand by her desk, feeling excitement and nervousness flow through my body.

Sitting down on a chair just to rest I see her pick up her phone and ring up somebody which by my guess are the people who offered this opportunity.

About a few minutes later she gets off the phone, turning around to meet my eyes.

"It seems like you'll start tomorrow. I went ahead and sent them your email so make sure you check it in a couple of hours because their coach sent you their whole schedule which includes home games, away games and practice as well." Obviously I didn't think this through because also practice? Eh. It's whatever, I'll spend more time with the girls.

"That's fine with me, thank you so much. I'll see you tomorrow, have a nice day!" Grabbing my bag I exit the class and head to my other class which is some photography class. Taking out my phone I quickly call Andrew. It rings in my ears for a few seconds until I hear a deep voice at the end of the line.

"Hello?"

"Oh my goodness you're not gonna believe what just happened."

"What happened, Liv?"

"Okay so basically Mrs. Lanza called me after class ended and she told me an opportunity was given for marketing students and she thought of me and recommended me. Well guess the hell what, I'm gonna be apart of the media team for the girls basketball team!"
