"Spain is going to be so amazing Jenny," you sighed staring out the airplane window. After months and months of begging, planning, and waiting, you had finally managed to convince your parents to let you register at a university in Barcelona, Spain for the semester. If all went well, you would extend it into your gap year. Barcelona held many interests to you, with the enriching education, great sights, not to mention incredible culture and birth place of your beloved team. Your friend Jenny had also signed up for the program, although she complained loudly about why the school was not instead located in Madrid, but you knew she was excited too. "Hala Madrid" was all Jenny murmured scrolling through tumblr. "I bet we meet our future husbands at the first club we go to" she said, liking another picture on Instagram. "We are here to study Jennifer" you reminded her. "Doesn't mean we can't have fun" she pointed out. You can't help agreeing, you are in one of the most beautiful cities in the world after all. You pass time reading the brochure on "Universitat de Barcelona", your new school. You shudder when you see the rigorous courses awaiting you, cursing yourself for pursuing athletic training classes and not focusing on something less stressful like art or design. After another hour the plane finally lands, and you and Jenny gather your luggage and walk and hail a cab, but not before breathing in the crisp, fresh air. After handing the driver directions to your school, you rest your eyes, tired yet eager to get to your new home. The drive seems short to your tired feet, but you happily exit the taxi, ready to explore. The first thing you notice is the castle-like building, with flawless architecture and big, glass windows. You walk through the main entrance and past the main building where you can see other students arriving as well. Finding the dorms doesn't prove too difficult, as there are helpful guides pointing the way to the different buildings, and you and Jenny head to your new dorm. Unpacking is a task you decide to leave for another day so instead you drop your suitcases and curl up on the foreign mattress.
