Five hours had passed, and it was now eleven at night when Fallon woke up. The stars in the night sky were the first thing she saw as she slowly sat up, she blinked her eyes quite a bit to adjust to the room. She noticed how Chris was passed out in a chair next to her, he was quietly snoring and it was something she couldn't understand. He looked so peaceful not a care in the world but how could he? After everything that's happened today? He was deeply into this gang if being shot wasn't a big deal to him, all the guns and violence meant nothing to him. With it all happening so quickly she didn't want to recollect the moments, she had already thought about all the possibilities that could occur with this new life.
She slowly got out of bed to find out she was in her socks, the room felt a bit comforting at least and it was the only sense of comfort she would get in a long time. She slowly made her way to the huge doors that led to a balcony, the gentle push of the door let the wind dust the flowy curtains off the floor. She peered over the stone balcony and to her surprise the area was pretty nice, it wasn't in the city there was plenty of land around.
"You're up," She turned her head to see Chris walking towards her slowly, she kept a poker face as he joined her on the balcony.
"This place isn't as bad as I thought it'd be," She turned her attention back to the sky. "It was a good nap."
"Good nap?" Chris lightly chuckled standing next to her but keeping 5 feet distance. "I'm happy you at least got some sleep, with everything that went down I wasn't sure how you..."
"I think it'll be better if I could just forget," She looked at him with a weak smile. "I know she didn't make it."
"But how?" Chris furrowed his eyebrows at how calm she was during this, just a few hours ago her entire world came crashing down.
"I heard your earpiece, that's when I processed it," Fallon explained as she leaned on the balcony rail. "If I had been my old persona I definitely would've wanted the bullet to hit me."
"Survivor's guilt," Chris swallowed deeply as he walked a little bit closer to Fallon, she stared at him with her faint smile. She decided she couldn't bear the contact with him so she stared at her hands fidgeting to try to come up with anything her mind could make up.
"Whatever it's called..." She finally spoke up. "I want to do better though, my mom wanted me to grow and I know I'll never be able to live with myself if I don't go out and make something of myself."
"She'd be okay with you becoming one of us? Willingly?" He tilted his head amused at her reply, he stood next to her and laid his back against the railing to look inside her room while they talked.
"She knows I have no choice, I know she would want me safe with protective people than staying at some random hotel." She sighed holding her hands together. "I don't blame you."
"You should," Chris tensed up at her words, he pushed himself off the railing and stared at her with a glare. "You should hate me."
"My mom's dead if you hadn't noticed," She pushed herself off the railing as well turning to Chris with a stoic face. "And hating you won't bring her back, maybe I would've hated you eight hours ago but it won't bring my damn mom back. I have to try to be a better person for her so that her death is actually worth something. I'm very angry but I can choose what to be angry about, right now I don't want to take it out on you."
Chris's glare faltered at her response, how could this girl act so... self-righteous? No one in his crew acted the way she did, every one of his boys had been through something and sometimes it was his fault. Whenever it did happen, Chris let them beat him up because he knew he was in the wrong. Everyone took a chance to take a punch at the leader because of his mistakes but here was this girl he had barely just met, a girl who was very angry but chose to be civil with him. No, this can't be. This is some sort of trap, right? Maybe she'll end up betraying all of them, he'll have to keep an eye on her.
