Boston laid in bed deep in thought. What did he just do? What did he say? It all didn't make sense. No, he didn't want to return to the demon realm, but how  was his life in danger? Mr. Maxwell wouldn't ever do such a thing to him, would he?
No. He loved Mr. Maxwell like a father as he loved Boston as a son. He would never betray him.
But what would he think when he found out that Boston broke up with Amber? Would he still be his father figure? Would he still like him?
To find out he accidentally hurt his daughter... would it hurt him?
Not to mention Kai, who he had that big blowout with. He felt bad, yes, but what could he do? He wasn't sorry so he couldn't apologize, because it was true! He didn't want to go back to the demon realm!
He checked the time; it was only 8:30. He groaned. He had a whole day ahead of him, and Cookie was most certainly going to get on to him about skipping school.
He sat up, knowing he had to make a plan for the day. He thought about heading outside to get some fresh air, but then he remembered it was the morning and people would see him if he went out in his lacey form.
Ultimately, he decided on heading out in his human form. He stood up, stretched, grabbed his skateboard that was leaning against the wall, and changed back into his human form.
He walked out of his bedroom door and tried to sneak past Cookie, who was again in the living room reading the newspaper, but Cookie seemed to already know.
"Where are you going?" He asked, lowering the paper to make eye contact with Boston.
"I-" Boston had to think of a lie. Fast. "I slept through my alarm... and I'm going to school on my skateboard."  He flashed a nervous smile towards Cookie and started to head back out.
"No you didn't." Cookie folded up the newspaper and put it back on the end table. "You did not sleep through your alarm, because I saw you walk through the door for the bus. What actually happened?"
"I missed the bus." Boston replied defensively.
There was a moment of silence between the two, and a dubious look on Cookie's face, before he eventually just released a sigh.
"Whatever. Just be back soon..."
"Thanks dad! Love you! Bye!" He rushed out the door as fast as he could to not raise any more suspicion, and started to ride out back into the forest.

"So." Mr. Maxwell harshly put a paper on the table. "I spent... I think it was last last weekend with my soon to be son-in-law. Who I managed to get him to confess."
The rest of the LBCA members looked at Mr. Maxwell dumbfounded.
"Confess... What?" One of the participants asked.
"Confess that he was a lacey! I've known for years, but I just needed to get enough information from him to tell you guys !" Mr. Maxwell held up the paper and cleared his throat.
"Boston Chipston, aged 13, who goes to Park Middle School here in Raleigh County, revealed to me in the ripe year of 2014 that he was in fact a lacey."
"Mr. Maxwell, this is a random 13 year old." The leader of the club explained, holding up a polaroid picture of Boston they he got from the school.
"Notice the green hair! The abnormally bright eyes! His teeth! That should be a dead giveaway on its own!" Mr. Maxwell persuaded.
"Right... and what information did you obtain from this young man?" The skeptical boss put down the polaroid picture.
"Lots of things! First off, I have a video of a living lacey."
Audible gasps filled the room, with various whispers and murmurs following them.
"Mr. Maxwell. That is a bluff." The boss' eyebrows furrowed out of fury.
"No. It isn't. Here, look! Here's footage of an interview I got in 2014!" Mr. Maxwell clicked a button, and the projector turned on, revealing a video.
The video played.

"Mr. Maxwell sir I respect you but do you think this is a good idea?" Boston looked from the camera to Mr Maxwell, who was off camera.
"Yes, Boston. I'm sure. I'm just collecting evidence."
"Evidence of... what?" Boston's right ear twitched, clearly nervous.
"Just... evidence. Now stand tall. No slouching." Mr. Maxwell entered the frame and held Boston up in an up-right position.
"Hey hey watch it please! I don't like to be touched like that..."
"I'm being careful... Arms out."
Boston did just that.
"Why the arms?" He asked, unsure of what Mr. Maxwell's intentions were.
"That doesn't matter. Now stay still until I say." He walked off camera.
"Um... Okay."
"Boston Chipston, era 1 earth lacey. 80 EL 20 FL laak type."
"How do you know my magic type?"
"Hush."
"Uuugh... I dont wanna do this!"
"Previously known as 3-27, Boston is genderless as found by my observations but he prefers to project as male. He is over two thousand years old, but he does shapeshift to look younger to fit in with humans. Boston's native language is latin. All demon realm laceys speak latin."
"This is freaking me out!"
"It's almost over. Turn around."
Boston turned around with a sigh, his tail unhappily thumping on the ground.
"Boston's tail is fully grown and drops scales occasionally. His leaf is that of a rose leaf, and to my findings, that means his special power is healing."
"I can heal?!"
"Boston."
"Sorry!"
"Additionally, despite the younger appearance, Boston has his hooves, claws, and horns fully grown out."
"My horns aren't, I clip them..."
There was a moment of silence before Mr. Maxwell was seen rushing across the screen and returning with a notepad and a pen.
"Why in the world didn't you tell me that previously??" He asked, jotting the new information down.
"I didn't think it was that relevant..."
Silence again. Before Boston spoke up.
"Quick question, is this going to be shown to anyone? I don't consent if-"
"No Boston this won't be shown to anyone, it's for my personal findings."
"Okay..."
"Boston's hands are also quite the anomaly. He has black claws, and rather large hands for his tall height. Show the camera."
Boston approached the camera and showed his hand.
"As you can see, laceys are completely capable in mobility as humans are. Notably, the scales on the bottom of his hand are a lot smaller than the already small scales on his body. His claws are also, surprisingly, incredibly sharp."
"Can I go now? Amber is waiting on me..." Boston dropped his arm and looked off camera to Mr. Maxwell.
"You may."
Boston ran off, and Mr. Maxwell came on camera again.
"Boston is a prime example of what laceys would look like in our human society. My daughter and him get along very well. Laceys can disguise as humans, but their notable features like their colored hair are still present. Laceys are harmless creatures and they share intelligence with humans, to my knowledge. Any further questions may be asked at the LBCA meeting this is shown at."
