"Okay, take care." Saying that, I waited for her to say something but Her hesitation won against her yet again,I ended the call and tossed my phone into my pocket as I arrived in Pratapgarh today. I didn't want to tell her I was coming; I wanted to surprise herBut I learned about her father's condition from Ma and couldn't talk to her because I was on a flight. I called her as soon as I reached home.
After finishing some leftover work at the office, I decided to call her bodyguard to find out where she was so I could go to her.
They said she had headed to the Malhotra mansion with her father. I didn't know why, but I couldn't leave her there alone, after knowing her step mother's ultirier motive,so I left rushing to the Malhotras'.
As I reached there, I saw her car and the guards standing outside. They nodded at me as I rushed inside, but the scene there made my blood rush to my veins and words did the fueling to the anger inside me.
Such a shameless woman you are, marrying your sister's fiancé," her sister shouted, her hand raised to strike, but I intercepted, grabbing her hand firmly.
"Don't you dare raise your voice or your hands against my wife ever again, or you'll lose both," I warned sternly.
"Avivansh, you" she pleaded, rushing toward me, but I held up a my hand, silencing her.
Glaring at her furiously, I walked over to Avni, who stood nervously fidgeting with her fingers. As she held her shoulders, I asked, "Are you all right? Are you hurt?" She nodded slowly, tears glistening in her eyes.
"It was just two sisters fighting over silly things; it's nothing serious," Poonam interrupted, attempting to downplay the situation. "Right, Avni?"
I shot her a deadpan look, causing her to lower her gaze and retreat.
"I'm fine," Avni muttered, sniffing and lifting her face to meet my gaze, tears still evident from her earlier crying.
"Avi... I was just joking; we always fight like this," Sobha attempted to excuse her actions.
"So you want me to believe that everything I saw with my own eyes was a lie?" I responded harshly.
"Why do you care about her so much? I was the one supposed to marry you; she's just a replacement," Sobha scoffed.
"That's my wife you're talking about. I won't tolerate any ill words or actions toward her, understood?" I replied firmly, glaring at her. "And there's no need for you to claim anything; I am married to her, and that's the truth."
"Sobha, say sorry to Kuwar Ji," her mother chimed in, feigning fake anger.
"Don't you think Avni is the one you should apologize to?" I retorted, holding Avni's hand in mine.
Sobha looked between me and Avni, then begrudgingly muttered, "Sorry," before storming off.
"Let's go home," I suggested to Avni, but she shook her head, her eyes moist with genuine concern for her father.
