Takes place during book six
Seth
"Caleb?"
"Hmm?"
"If I die tonight-"
"You won't," he says.
"You don't know that. Just let me finish please," I say.
He falls silent, looking at me expectantly.
"I can't die without telling you how I feel," I say.
"Seth-"
"Just let me get this out. I like you Caleb."
"Seth, Caleb! Come on, we have to go!" Max shouts.
I hurry over to him, Caleb following behind me. Max takes out some stardust. Caleb takes my hand, and Max throws the stardust over us. We land in the middle of a battle. Caleb drops my hand and rushes into the battle.
Later
We arrive at a place called the burrows after running for our lives. I start to head inside, following everyone else but Caleb stops me.
"Cal?"
"We need to talk. About what you said," he says.
I sigh.
"I'd rather not," I say.
"Seth-"
"Look, I thought one or both of us might die. We don't have to talk about it," I say.
"Seth-"
"Cal I can't."
I head inside, say the vow and enter the actual burrows. Caleb follows behind me. We clean in the baths and choose rooms. Caleb comes over to me.
"I told the others that you and I are sharing a room," he says.
"What why?"
"Because we need to talk," he says.
"Damn it, Caleb. I said I can't."
"We need-"
I cut him off.
"I'll find a different room," I say.
"Everyone already paired up, there's nowhere else," he says.
"Damn it. Fine," I say.
I storm into the room. He follows me in and casts a silencing bubble.
"So?"
"You said you like me," he says.
"I thought we might die," I say.
"So you didn't mean it?" he asks.
I don't answer that.
"I thought so," he says.
"I'm sorry," I say.
"Why are you sorry?" he asks.
"Why shouldn't I be?" I respond.
He moves closer to me.
"I like you too," he says.
"Well shit," I say.
"I'm going to kiss you," he says.
He presses his lips to mine. I close my eyes and return the kiss. He backs us up and pushes me back onto the bed. He climbs on top of me. I break the kiss.
"Cal-"
He removes his shirt. I run my hands over his chest. He pulls off my shirt and kisses me again briefly.
