Athena's POV
I was in the parking lot of the gym getting my bag from the trunk. As I was walking in I said "Hi" to Ms. Carson, and went to go talk to the boys.
Once it was time to re-tryout we all went in and got ready to show out. We did a couple of drills and played 5 on 5. In one of the games one of the boys, I think was Phil, knocked Jace to the floor. But at the end of the game, my team won with me shooting the winning basket.
It was now time for them to announce who was going to be on the new combined team. I was hoping my dad picked me first instead of Jace. "I just want everyone to know, you're all ballers, whether you make the team or not. Here are the ten. If I call your name, Walk to half court."
I was holding my breath wondering if my name would be called or not.
"Athena Edwards. Half Court"
I smiled excitedly at being picked first. The names went on down until the last name was called which was Royals name. There was a little bit of hesitation from my dad, and I understand why Royal did not do good at all today.
(TIME SKIP)
I was in the locker room getting ready because I didn't wanna see him when I was all sweaty and stinky. I walked out of the locker room and ran into Jace.
"Hey Athena, Where are you going He asked
"Oh umm, I'm going to go meet up with a friend, what about you?"
"Oh I was going to go to the barbershop to get my hair cut" He replies
"Ok well see you later," I said, and made my way out the door.
