23 years ago - the next day

Lessy puts the rest of her school books into her locker as she's getting ready to wait for Kurama so they can walk home together like they did every day for years. As she waits for him to arrive, her classmate, Kenji, calls out to her.

"Hey Lessy. Do you have a minute," Kenji asked as he stopped in front of her.

Lessy looked at him, "Sure. Does it require a science assignment for Monday?"

"Actually, there is something I wanted to ask you about," Kenji said as he started blushing and looking down.

"Hm? What is it, Kenji," Lessy asked. She was really hoping that it was not what he was asking for. Kenji is the second popular boy in middle school next to Shuichi, aka Kurama. She had a crush on him once, but it faded out when she started to fall for Kurama a month earlier.

Kenji looked at her and said, "Well, you see? I like you Lessy a lot and I wanted to ask you about coming to the school dance with me on Friday. I want you to be honest with me and tell me please if you feel the same way about me."

Lessy looks down on the floor with a disappointment. She knew that something like this would happened and she hates to be the one who has to break a person's heart.

"I'm sorry, Kenji. You're a great guy, and I used to have a crush on you, but I don't think you're the one for me. I'm falling for someone else."

"I see...is it someone I know about?"

Lessy looks back up at Kenji, "You should probably go ask Suriko to the dance. She will be happy to go with you."

Kenji sadly nodded his head and started to walk away.

Lessy suddenly felt someone grabbing her and turned to find out that Kurama was the one holding her hand.

"Sorry for taking so long, Lessy. Is everything okay," Kurama asked.

Lessy smiled, "Yes, everything is fine. I'll tell you about it later."

"Alright then. Are you ready to go?"

Lessy nods her head and walks away with Kurama.

'So Shuichi is the one that stole my Lessy's heart. That bastard is always in my way. No matter. If I can't have her, no one else can,' Kenji thought as he was spying on the pair behind the corner of the hallway.

Later that night, Lessy and Kurama were finishing up with their homework while listening to the music that her father had listened to. As Lessy closed her science book, one of her favorite songs came on from the stereo. She loved it so much that she had it on repeat with her cd player.

Kurama looked at her with a smile on his face as he started listening to her singing the lyrics of the song. Great Inari, he loves her voice. It's the sound of an angel that he can listen to every day.

He stood up from the couch and held out his hand to her, "Lessy, would you like to dance with me?"

Lessy looked up at him, blushing and saying, "Sure. I love to." She grabs his hand with hers and stands up in front of him.

Kurama continued to smile at her as he grabbed her other hand and had them wrapped around his shoulders. He then wrapped his arms around her waist, and they both started to sway to the music. Lessy blushed as she realized what was happening. She is falling in love with a fox demon. Big time.
