As the group made their way back to Mondstadt, the atmosphere was thick with tension. The lush trees lining the path seemed to blur together as you all walked, the weight of the recent events heavy on everyone's minds.
Aether was the first to speak up, his voice filled with genuine concern. "Are you feeling alright, (Name)? That was a close call back there. We were all worried when you disappeared."
Taking a deep breath, you met his gaze, trying to project a calm demeanor. "I'm shaken up, but I'll manage."
Paimon fluttered close to you, her large eyes filled with worry. "Did they hurt you, (Name)? Paimon was so scared! If they laid a finger on you, they'll pay!"
Smiling softly at her protective nature, you reassured the tiny fairy, "I'm okay, Paimon." you smiled awkwardly, "Eh, although that Xavier got a good punch to my stomach, I will live."
Aether, after hearing your statement, turned to you, a soft look inside his orbs. "The moment we arrive in Mondstadt, we should get you treated right away. Your bruises also seem serious." he pointed to your wrists.
Following his finger with your eyes, you noticed how blue and purple spots began to appear on your skin. You grimaced, not liking the look of it at all.
When your fairy friend laid eyes on those bruises as well, she somehow got even angrier. You could have sworn that you saw steam coming out of her ears.
"Ugh, Paimon will beat them up when Paimon ever encounters them again! Paimon is furious!" Everyone laughed at the way she stomped her little feet in the air, and you felt like the tension in the air finally dissipated.
Venti, chimed in, "Well, as long as you're okay, that's what matters. Although, I must say, getting kidnapped sounds like quite the adventure. You'll have to tell me all about it over a drink sometime."
You chuckled despite the gravity of the situation. "Trust me, Venti, it's an adventure I'd rather not repeat. But I'll take you up on that drink offer when all of this is over. But seriously, thank you all for saving my life. I owe you guys one."
As the city gates of Mondstadt came into view, a collective sigh of relief echoed among the group. The familiar sights and sounds of the bustling city served as a comforting reminder of the safety and sanctuary it provided.
Upon entering the city, the group attracted some attention from the citizens, who were curious about the commotion. Children pointed excitedly at Paimon, while others whispered among themselves, recognizing the esteemed member of the knights of favonius and the famous master of the dawn winery, accompanying some not so popular faces.
Jean, taking charge as always, addressed the group, "Let's head to the knights of favonius headquarters to report the kidnapping. We need to debrief and strategize our next steps while Aether, Paimon and (Name) will visit the Mondstadt cathedral to recuperate."
