Third Person's POV

Back inside the morgue.
Leilani held herself back for so long until she rushed into her parents cold lifeless arms wrapping her arms around them both as she apologized profusely.
"I am so sorry Mama and Papa, I fucked up big this time and I know I let you both down many times recently but I will do everything to become better I promise and I will work hard to fill in the shoes you two left behind I promise." She made her promise giving a peck to her parents on their cold foreheads as she rolled the clothes back covering their lifeless bodies and leaving the morgue to find Anika. She quickly found Nika who was waiting right outside for her friend. Nika took one look at Leilani and drew the woman in for a warm hug.
"Are you okay? Do you want to leave now?" Nika asked as she encircled her arms round Leilani.
"Yes please I'd like to leave now so we can go plan the funeral."
The next few days went in a blur as the two young women worked together to put up a befitting funeral for the deceased who had treated Nika like their daughter and on the day of the funeral Nika made a personal promise to Leilani's parents that she'd take care of their daughter for them.
After the funeral true to her word Leilani stayed clean and went to rehab finally coming clean, she went to college with Nika but they grew apart with Nika's busy schedule handling college, her private 'business' and her parents companies, it was a lot to handle everything and still keep a healthy stable relationship in whatever way it was.
Leilani wasn't offended and instead she went off on her own private journey running the company her parents left behind and expanding further to different parts of the world, along the way she got married to her wife after years of being single. Leilani was scared and didn't want a repeat of what she did to Anika during their relationship so she stayed away from women as a whole and threw herself into work building it more knowing that's what her parents would've wanted and she felt satisfied knowing that in some way wherever they were they'd be happy she was taking good care of what they left behind not forgetting to try meet up with Nika every once in a while and the visits kept cutting short until they became nonexistent but that was okay because Leilani had someone to keep her busy while Anika on the other hand at the time was a mess.
The two women loved each other and could have easily ended up together but some things were easier said than done, they had been down that road and were unwilling to go down that road again because the uncertainty of the situation was way too tense and the cons outweighed the pros.
With all the work and everything the pressure was getting too much on Anika and she had no one to talk about it with, she felt herself slipping into a very dark place and she couldn't care less instead she turned to drugs to help her fill the void which is how she got wrapped up with drugs. It went on for months until Avery somehow decided she wanted to surprise her daughter one day and flew all the way to her apartment in Italy to find her daughter at the center of the living room right under the lit chandelier sitting on the couch snorting coke and the satchel sitting pretty at the edge. Everything clicked at once, the missed calls, purposely missing visits, being at home most of the time rather than being at events she was supposed to turn up for.
It broke Avery's heart that her daughter was going down the road Leilani went through all the years back and the same way she didn't wish it on anyone she knew what had to be done so she told Gregorio about it when she got back home but that was after she had already signed Nika up for rehab and taking the young woman back with her to Spain. Immediately they got back to Spain she personally dropped Anika off at rehab and it took a year plus for her to get out of habit and once she was back home she took control of her companies in person once again and things were running smoothly until she met her husband William who was such a charming young man until he wasn't.
When they were dating he was really charming and Anika was looking for more expansion in her business and what better way to do it if not marrying the owner of the lands she needed also it'd keep her away from all the questions on when she'd get married and how she was already running out of time questions not from her parents but from the media and all other fools on social media. Nika didn't have to listen to them if she didn't want to or even do what they wanted but the woman couldn't care less at least if she's married she could still do whatever she wanted all she'd do is she'd enter an agreement with William that they are married only on paper but they'd still live their separate lives which he agreed to and that was how Nika got married to the one person she could tolerate at that time and the first year of marriage was good at least, they weren't the ideal romantic couple but at least they made it work and the sex was okay until it wasn't due to the fact that William couldn't exactly satisfy her as much as she'd hoped and things just went downhill when he started seeing other people.
They were in an open relationship so Nika didn't care but at a point she got tired of the whole facade and filed for a divorce and she finally stepped out of her marriage when the case was in court being finalized. She got back into old habits but with limitations this time least she didn't skip meetings or family gatherings the whole weed and drugs was more like a pass time for her to let loose since obviously she couldn't do that with William. In his dictionary her imaginations were too wild for him and he couldn't keep up hence him going to look outside what baffled Anika was when he was trying to get her to cancel the divorce, who the fuck did he think she was? Did he for one second think she'd cancel the whole thing because his ego was bruised? If he thought so then he didn't know her at all, the marriage was a sham to begin with there's no use or point trying to rekindle any lost flame because the flame died after the first year of marriage.

Anika knew she had to explain herself to her lovers so she took them to a restaurant in a secluded area but she knew the owner, when they got there Anika exchanged pleasantries with the restaurant owner who was like a second mum to Nika and after ordering she took time to narrate the entire story to the twins from how she met Leilani down to her marriage and divorce with William, if they were going to get serious at some point she believed they should tell each other important details like a past lover or second mother figure. The past was indeed in the past but she was still dealing with Leilani so there was no such thing as skipping that detail.
After explaining the twins we're cool with the whole stuff but still stressed the Nika should stay at a respectable distance from Leilani but when she told them Leilani was happily married with a child then they were more relaxed. Once the Leilani case and matter was addressed Anika decided to ask Natalya just what had been bugging her for the long while that her entire mood and countenance suddenly shifted.
"It's nothing serious don't worry about it" Natasha said as she was trying to dismiss the issue keyword being trying because Nika upright told her
"Gurl don't fuck with me on that typa shit start talking or we gon have a problem." Nika told Talya and obviously she had to rethink carefully.
"I've been thinking of your exes who want you back and even though Natalya gave me the reassurance that you aren't that type of person since she's known you longer but I just can't help but worry you know?" Natasha said baring herself vulnerable for her twin and their other half to see.
Anika let out a deep sigh as she shook her head.
"This is my fault, I don't think I reassure the two of you enough which is what has led to these doubts and with everything that's happening around us right now? I won't have agreed for you nor Natasha to come with me if I didn't see us going somewhere.
Exes are called exes for a reason, if they desperately want to come back it means they did something wrong which caused them to leave in the first place and so for that reason there is no reasonable point going down a road that had already formerly been taken. I want to walk down new roads with my lovers where I will love you entirely and you two me as well  so my dearest Natasha and Natalya I am not leaving full course meals for orios in the market okay and just in case I don't say it often, I really care about you two and I want this to work as much as you do so don't you for one vulnerable second think otherwise and if you ever feel that talk to me about it okay?" Nika asked with a comforting smile as the twins smiled back at her and pulled her in for hugs as they pecked her cheeks.
After having lunch the couple of three returned to the institute where Anika made her intentions to handover clear to Leilani that she wanted contracts drawn up as soon as possible after which they proceeded to the house after a while out. When they got home they picked  up their luggage's which where already packed and ready to move so the main reason why they went back home was to bid Nika's parents bye and after a semi long while due to the fact the Gregorio didn't want to let go of his baby girl and Avery was more let goish only because she knew if she missed her baby she'd make her way to where the young woman resided.
After bidding farewell the went to the airport and down to Italy in Nika's private jet.
