CHAPTER 27

Previously...

Maya frowns, thinking. She stands quickly "WAIT!" She yells causing Carina to turn round with her eyebrows raised, both at the request itself and the volume.

Maya looks around sheepishly as she walks to where Carina is standing "Sorry." She says in reference to yelling across the coffee shop, causing Carina to laugh slightly.

Maya takes a breath before saying "go on a date with me? A real date?" She asks before she can lose her nerve.

Carina's eyebrows raise at that, genuinely surprised at the question. Before she can answer, Maya speaks again "please, let me show you I can be who you deserve, let me show you you can start to trust me with your heart again. Please?"

Carina can't help the soft smile on her lips at the look Maya is giving her ocean blue eyes wide and pleading, but the voice in the back of Carina's head is also there. She leans in, placing a soft kiss on Maya's cheek as she whispers "maybe." and backs away.

Maya raises her hand up to her cheek where Carina's lips were seconds ago, dopey grin on her lips. She may not have said yes, but she didn't say no. And that kiss... that makes her hopeful.

Maya turns walking back to the table to gather up her things, as she does she feels her phone vibrate in her pocket. Pulling it out she initially frowns seeing Carina's name on the screen given she has only just left. She opens the chat thread, and her frown instantly transforms into a huge grin.

Carina: 'Ok, I'll go on a date with you.'

Maya lets out a little squeak of excitement. Hurrying to gather up her things, she leaves some cash on the table and practically runs out of the door heading straight for Station 19.

Maya arrives finding Vic in reception talking to Cass. "Hey guys."

They both turn Vic immediately, greeting Maya and hugging her, with Cass muttering a soft "hey Maya", and immediately running off, up to the beanery, causing Maya to raise an eyebrow "Ok you gonna clue me in to whatever that was about?"

Vic smirks looking at Maya tilting her head in a manner that said 'really?' Maya just widens her eyes and shakes her head seriously lost.

Vic barks out a laugh "do not tell me you can't see the gigantic crush she has on you?!"

"WHAT?" Maya shrieks out in complete shock.

Vic just laughs harder, "Jesus, you really didn't know?"

Maya shakes her head "we have barely spent any time together, how can she have a crush on me?"

"Well you did spend a while on the night out getting to know each other... But yeah, don't let on you know, she would KILL me." Vic laughs.

Maya nods, "um yep, ok, I will happily forget you ever said anything." She says. "Is Andy in?" She asks changing the subject quickly.

Vic nods, "sure is, in her office I think. Go ahead." Vic waves her hand in the direction of the Captains office "thanks Vic. Catch you later."

Maya knocks on the door hearing Andy shout "come in." She opens the door poking her head in, "hey, you got some time?" She asks.

Andy looks up smiling when she hears Maya's voice "Hey! What brings you by? Come in, I need an excuse to put the paperwork to one side!" She laughs

Maya shuts the door and comes in and sits down before a HUGE grin overtakes her face "I have a date." She says simply.

Andy almost chokes on her own saliva at that. "You have a WHAT?! What the fuck Mai!" She yells slightly causing Maya to furrow her brow a little, not understanding the negative reaction.
