"Guess I need to talk to Maya..." Carina says, grabbing her phone, shooting off the text before she can chicken out.
Carina: 'Hey. We need to talk... Can you meet me somewhere?'
___
Maya was sitting on the sofa with Andy at her place, talking to her about the recent progress - or lack thereof - with Carina.
"Like, I totally get it. I really do. I have to let things go at her pace, but I want her so much. My body feels like it's vibrating with the need to touch her, and I can't it's torture Andy." Maya whines.
Andy smirks "look I'm amazed you even got her to agree to listen to you, let alone go out with you, so I can't say I'm surprised there was a catch... But seriously. This might be a shocking concept, you could try talking to her?"
Maya rolls her eyes "I know that, but then it would seem like I'm putting pressure on her, to like give me something, or figure out things or..." She waves her hands around.
Andy opens her mouth but before she can say anything Maya's phone chimes drawing both of their attention to the phone on the coffee table in front of them, Maya sucks in a breath seeing Carina's name on the screen.
She picks up the phone opening the text, her stomach dropping when she reads it.
Carina: 'Hey. We need to talk... Can you meet me somewhere?'
Maya sighs "looks like I don't need to worry about talking to her, she is breaking up with me... well as much as you can break up with someone you're only sort of, unofficially seeing." Maya grumbles slight panic evident in her voice.
Andy's eyes go wide "what? She's breaking up with you over text?"
Maya shakes her head "not exactly... She said we need to talk though. So it doesn't sound good."
Andy sighs "Maya, you are reading into it. You don't know that - you don't know she is ending things. Try not to see a disaster before there is one." Andy tries to calm her.
"Have you messaged her back?" Andy asks. Maya shakes her head. "Ok, well think you should?" Andy continues.
Maya huffs, typing out a reply. It takes only a few minutes before her phone pings again. Her and Andy look at each other as Maya picks up her phone again.
"Ok, she's asked me to meet her at the coffee shop near the park in an hour." Maya says
Andy smiles "Ok that's good right?"
"What?! How is that good?" Maya all but shrieks.
"Because - public, so not likely to be a big complicated conversation right? Who would want to do that in public?" Andy says.
Maya scoffs "someone who is hoping to keep the drama to a minimum and stop someone causing a scene when they kick them to the curb." Maya says dryly.
"Oh." Andy simply says, not wanting to agree but finding it hard to argue with that logic. "Well I'm sure it's not..." She offers sounding less confident.
___
"Hey." Maya says glumly as she sits down at the table Carina is already occupying.
Carina smiles slightly at Maya "Hi." Immediately Maya is sure she was right about the reason for this talk, the look on Carina's face, the tension in the air between them.
"I um, I got the coffee to go. I thought maybe we could walk whilst we talk..." Carina says, gesturing to two take out cups on the table.
"Ok sure." Maya says dejectedly.
