32 WEEKS PREGNANT...
The two weeks since the diagnosis of placenta previa had been challenging for Maya and Carina. Both of them struggled with their worries and concerns around everything, but as each day came and went and no more bleeding, both of them seemed to grow more confident and relaxed.
Today Maya decided it was time to paint the nursery, they had agreed on a neutral theme rather than a traditional pink or blue colour palette as they had remained true to their initial instincts not to find out what they were having.
"Babe? I'm home. Do you need anything?" Maya called out from the hallway as she lugged the tins of paint into the apartment.
Carina sat on the sofa feet up with a blanket as she had been advised to do "no thank you bambina." She says before rethinking "actually yes, there is one thing..." She says.
Maya appears in front of her within 3 seconds, "what can I get for you my loves?" She asks, causing a wide grin to spread across Carina's face. Over the last few weeks Maya has adapted the usual 'my love' pet name for Carina to 'my loves' to include their baby, and it makes Carina fall that little more in love with her every time – not that that should be possible at the amount of love she feels for her wife, but somehow it is.
"A kiss please." She smiles, causing Maya to do the same, leaning down to place a kiss on her lips.
"That is something I will ALWAYS happily give you, as many as you like in fact." She demonstrates the point leaning back in for another kiss.
"Did you get everything you needed?" Carina asks.
Maya nods "Yep..." she moves to the paint and bags she brought in. "So I got the pale sage green paint we chose for the back wall and the white paint for the others." She then rummages in the back showing Carina some of the prints she brought. "I got these cute animal prints too, and all the furniture is arriving on Friday." She confirms.
Carina smiles, "I can't wait to see it." She says happily. "I'm sorry I can't help – I know we planned to do some of the nursery together." She says.
Maya moves to the sofa, sitting next to her, placing one hand across the back of the couch and one hand on Carina's bump as she sits side on facing her. "Hey, you and the little cadet here are the most important things in the universe to me. You have nothing to apologise for. We did the important bits together, we planned it and chose everything, the rest doesn't matter. Plus Andy is coming to help so we got free labour." She laughs.
Carina leans in to kiss her wife "you really are perfect you know that."
"Perfect for you." Maya whispers leaning in to kiss her again when there is a knock at the door. "That will be Andy." Maya says getting up to go let her in.
"I am here with my brushes ready to do my Tia duties." Andy announces as soon as Maya opens the door, who chuckles before letting her in.
"come on dork." Maya laughs, leading her into the living room.
Carina turns slightly "hey Andy. Thanks for coming to help." She says.
Andy shakes her head "no problem at all, how are you feeling?" She asks gently.
Carina nods "I'm ok. No more issues yet, and we saw the doctor again yesterday who confirmed everything looks the same. And whilst I am very grateful I am a little bored I will admit." She says.
Maya looks at her with a raised eyebrow "bored is good. Bored means nothing is happening, and you are calm, and everything is fine. I like bored." She laughs.
