** It's the early hours of the night and Carina had been called in for a birth ... of one of her patients, Eva and her husband Rick are expecting their first child together and Eva hasn't had an easy pregnancy, she had a huge scare in the middle of her pregnancy, she was experiencing some bleeding and she was rushed to the hospital immediately , the doctors told her that the bleeding was normal and that baby was fine, she didn't trust the hospital doctors so she found Carina's number and name online, with her clinic! So Carina has been her midwife for the last three months of her pregnancy!
Eva is now 39 weeks pregnant and wanted to try a home birth , Carina said it was totally safe but if she was to experience any complications of any kind Carina wouldn't hesitate to call an ambulance and head to the nearest hospital! Rick and Eva both agreed! **

Rick : hi ummm Carina , it's Rick, Eva's husband!
Carina: oh right hi !
** she was rocking Niccolas back to sleep, and Kathleen has been up with Carina to let maya sleep. **
Kathleen: here's his pacifier Carina !
Carina: thank you Kathleen. She's close isn't she?
Rick : yea ! She wants you to come over as soon as possible please! I don't know what to do to make her stay calm and comfortable!
Carina: alright, let her scream if she wants to, don't tell her to stop, it actually really helps when we make loud noises! I'm getting ready to come over to your house! I'll be there in fifteen minutes!
Rick : perfect, thank you!
Carina: you are welcome!
** Rick hung up and told his wife to scream and let her pain out by crying and screaming if it helped her **
Carina: Kathleen, I have to go assist my patient Eva with her baby, tell Maya that I'll call her when I'm done, I don't know how long she's going to be in labour for, if she has trouble going to the bathroom .. just massage her lower stomach and give her a prune or banana. Or beans !
Kathleen : perfect! Give me This little guy!
** Carina gave Niccolas to her mother in law and gave him lots and lots of kisses before leaving the house **
Carina's gps : your destination is two hundred miles down the street, then turn right and you'll be at your destination... ** it kept talking **
Carina: alright... gps ! I got it !
**Carina drove to her patients house and got there just as things were starting to get a little bit more intense. She could hear Eva screaming from the pain from outside! She quickly grabbed her bags and knocked on the door, and entered **
Carina: hi Eva , hi Rick , it's me Carina , I figured I'd come in.
Eva : oh thank goodness you are here! I think I'm progressing pretty good.. I have insane amounts of pressure all the way down in my vagina and also in my rectum !
Carina : that's totally normal... do you mind if I check your cervix ?
Eva : no , you can now , before I get another contraction..
Rick : yea her contractions are three minutes apart and they last for uhhhh a minute to ninety seconds each!
Carina : perfect! Take a deep breath for me, I can check it while you're standing up!
Eva : yea , please, because I'm more comfortable standing up than laying down, plus I read that laying down can slow down your labour.
Carina: sometimes it does but if you need to lay down you can.
Eva : alright!!! I will after you check my cervix ! Owwwwww !
Carina: right, well you're halfway there, five centimetres dilated.
