10. The Next Morning

I woke up feeling groggy and slightly seasick. I mumbled incoherently and turned around to cuddle deeper into my unnaturally warm pillow. As I shifted closer, my cheek came in contact with something hard and skin like. What?

I slowly opened my eyes and immediately winced at the bright sunlight that was streaming in.

"Ughh. I swear I am never drinking again." I muttered to myself

Once my eyesight came in focus, I almost fell off the bed. Why the hell am I in bed with Kaleb? What happened last night?! WHY IS HE SHIRTLESS?  Well actually I wouldn't mind if he was shirtless more often. I grimaced at the thoughts that were running through my mind and casually glanced under the covers and almost laughed with relief.

We were both dressed. Well half dressed. Seeing as how I was wearing his shirt and he was wearing his sweatpants.

I took this time to fully turn around and study his profile like some kind of obsessive stalker. But can you blame me? Imagine the hottest guy you know and multiple him by 100 and then you have Kaleb. Well maybe I'm exaggerating a little bit but still he was unfairly good looking.

His dark and full eyelashes nearly grazed his cheeks every time he exhaled. His eyebrows were thick and drawn in towards his nose. I followed my gaze to his nose.  It was straight and thin except for that little bump on the bridge of his nose. He always joked that it was because he fell on his face and everything except for that bump flattened into his face. Me being the naive 13 year old girl, believed him.

His upper lip was slightly thin but his bottom lip was full and kissable. Wait what? I did not just say his lips were kissable. This is Kaleb we're talking about! For some reason I ignored the little voice in my head and continued my creepy staring.

His hair was flopped over one eye and without thinking I reached up and started combing it to the side. I was staring so intently at his wavy locks that I jumped when I saw Kaleb's sleepy gaze on me.

His eyes were light green with gold and brown specks. In the mornings they were hazy around the edges, very soft and towards the  end of the day, they would turn sharper and more into a hazel green rather than a light green. When he was angry, his eyes would narrow into emerald slits that burned with a fire.

While I was filing away at his different eye colors, I realized my hand was still in his hair. The same hair that the girl touched. Quickly, I pulled my hand away and blushed.

"Why'd you stop? That felt good" His raspy voice send tremors down my spine. Boys and their morning voices. 'Faint'.

"I...uh. Why am I here? Where's my clothes? Why didn't you bring me home? What happened last night? Why am I here?"

I threw question after question at him. I was confused and desperately trying to change the subject.

He stiffened and studied me. He seemed more attentive now.

"Oh. You don't remember anything from last night. Absolutely nothing?" His voice was curious and an edge of something else-something I couldn't quite put my finger on.

His tone of voice started to scare me. Oh God! What did I do last night?!

"Whatever I did. I was drunk. I didn't mean it! Oh God! Did I hurt anyone? What happened?!" My voice rose higher with each question.

Hurt crossed Kaleb's face and by now I was totally and utterly confused.

"You didn't hurt anyone. Just my pride." Kaleb responded. I almost missed the last part because he said it so softly.

"Anyways, why don't I go make us some breakfast? My parents are probably gone to work by now."

Kaleb's sudden change in mood left me in shock. Wait. What just happened?

He got off the bed in a flash and I quickly averted my eyes from his mouth watering body. He grabbed a shirt lying nearby and padded out of the room.

I slowly pulled my limbs off the mattress and headed to the bathroom to brush and hopefully find my pants! Unable to locate them anywhere, I just grabbed sweatpants from Kaleb's closet. I had to fold the waist three times to get them to stay on my waist.

Shaking my head, I quickly washed my face, brushed and tied my hair up and headed downstairs for some breakfast.

The smell of waffles and scrambled eggs made my stomach growl in hunger. I stumbled to his medicine drawer and grabbed two advils.

"Here. Drink this before you take the pills. It will make you feel better." Kaleb's voice from behind me handed me a mug of black coffee.

I hated-absolutely hated- black coffee. I needed atleast 10 bags of sugar in my coffee to make it drinkable. I made a face as I slowly started sipping from the mug.

Miraculously, my pounding headed stopped and I closed my eyes, enjoying the feeling of quietness. Before I knew it, the coffee mug was empty and I reached for the water to take the advils.

"So what happened last night?" I turned back around to Kaleb.

He had avoided my question before and I just wanted to know who to apologize for.

"Um...you might want to sit down for this." His guilty expression made my gulp hard and I moved towards the chair at the island.
